I've Been...

I've been listening to these albums:

Aly & AJ came out with an EP, Ten Years, back in November and it's only four songs, but I am here for their super chill, '80s vibe. Take Me is one of my favorite songs of 2018. The Call Me By Your Name soundtrack is so good. It's got some classical music, some French songs, and then Love My Way by the Psychedelic Furs, and three songs by Sufjan Stevens. The Greatest Showman is a really fun soundtrack, too! Just skip over anything with Michelle Williams in it. The songs get stuck in your head all day. My favorites are Come Alive, The Other Side, Never Enough, This Is Me, and Rewrite The Stars

I've been watching this music video:

I'm so glad Lily Allen is back with new music! She's my faaaavorite! Trigger Bang and the video for it are pretty chill. They did a great job casting young Lily and I'm obsessed with her current pink hair.

I've been watching these new shows:

The End of the F***ing World is weird as hell, but good. It's funny at times, but really dark and deals with heavy stuff. Alex Lawther (who I only knew from his episode of Black Mirror) and Jessica Barden were great, though the character of Alyssa was hard for me to like. The Assassination of Gianni Versace is as little slow, and I wish it didn't skip around in time, but I'm into it. Penelope Cruz nails Donatella's voice and Darren Criss is perfection!

I've been been catching up on these old ones:

I caught up on One Mississippi just days before I found out Amazon cancelled it. That's too bad. I love Tig and thought the show was funny and real. Atypical was a good, but tough watch. Nolan isn't on the spectrum, but he does have Sensory Processing Disorder (which 90% of children with autism have), so I saw some similarities in him and that made me a little sad. It's a good show though, and there need to be more stories like this on TV. I finally binged The Crown! It was on my radar, but I somehow forgot about it. Then season two came out and my sister asked me how I was liking it and I had nothing to say. I watched both seasons in a week and LOVE it. I was sad to learn that the series will jump ahead in season three and be completely recast only because I love this cast so much. I can't wait to see the changes though! Glow is also so, so good. I don't know why I was sort of put off by it, but decided randomly to give it a chance (mostly because I wanted something light and short) and it's awesome. I'm a huge fan of Alison Brie and love the music, clothes, characters, and story. Plus, Piz from Veronica Mars! I had no idea he was in it. I might have watched right off the bat for him alone. Ha!

I've been seeing these movies:

Pitch Perfect 3 was completely unnecessary, but better than I imagined and even a step up from the second one. Downsizing was weird. It started off really fun, but lost it's way and bummed me out by the end. All The Money in the World felt like a few different movie geners mashed into one film. I liked it though! It's a crazy story that I knew nothing about and Christopher Plummer was great. Molly's Game was really entertaining. Again, it's a story I was totally unfamiliar with. I loved the writing and thought Jessica Chastain did a fantastic job. The Greatest Showman's story fell flat, Hugh Jackman's voice wasn't very strong (though he was a great fit for this part), and Michelle Williams annoyed me, but it was still really fun to watch. Zac Efron needs to be in every musical from here on out. I, Tonya was my most anticipated film and it did not disappoint. It was enjoyable from beginning to end with amazing performances from everyone involved. I was surprised by how funny it was.

I've been streaming these ones:

We finally saw Spider-Man: Homecoming and I have to say, I kinda loved it! Maybe it's because I have a soft spot for Tom Holland. He's definitely the best Peter Parker I've ever seen. Patti Cake$ was supposed to be a Sundance darling, but didn't do well at the box office. I can see why. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't hit the nail on the head either. I think Danielle Macdonald is going to go far! The Killing of a Sacred Deer was disturbing! It's weird and creepy and the cast did a great job.

I've been listening to this podcast:

Atlanta Monster is a new podcast from the team behind Up and Vanished last year, which was another favorite of mine. This one takes a look at the Atlanta Child Murders of 1979-1981. I didn't know anything about this! 23-year-old Wayne Williams was convicted of killing two adults at that time so the police attributed the twenty eight slain black children to him as well, even though he maintains his innocence. It's disturbing that these cases are unsolved after all this time.

I'm linking up with Kristen and Gretch!

We've got some different taste in music but I watched the video anyway, lol. I love her pink hair, too. Can you imagine living like the video, though?? Especially as an adult. The teen part I get but it was dang near exhausting to watch. Lol
I definitely want to see Molly's Game, THe Greatest Showman, and I, Tonya!

For some reason I still haven't watched The Crown, but definitely want to get around to it soon. I'm really curious about downsizing, from the previews it looked like something I'd want to see, but I also still don't totally get what it's even about.

I've been living under a rock because I haven't seen or listed to any of this! I have plenty of time now that my consulting gig is up so you'd think I'd get on it lol. I used to adore Lily Allen but I either love or hate her stuff and I am not loving the new song. Then again it takes me awhile to warm up to any music so I need to keep listening.

This reminds me that I so rarely listen to entire albums.

I plan to see I, Tonya soon!

I liked Up and Vanished but I didn't like Payne Lindsay, so I actually heard Atlanta Monster not be recommended because it's by him as well. The story looks like a great Dateline special-type idea.

I'm with you on Pitch Perfect 3, totally unnecessary but utterly enjoyable all the same. I went around singing the songs from it for weeks afterwards! Do they make a soundtrack of it? If so I might be interested...

Atlanta Monster sounds interesting, I've been on a bit of a true crime binge lately so I'll add that to the list.

I really liked The Greatest Showman, but yeah, Michelle Williams isn't the best singer. LOVE the soundtrack though. My mom totally bought that one. haha I really need the Call Me By Your Name soundtrack - I saw that movie and just adored it. I'm a fan of the book too, but it's been years now since I've read it so I think a re-read is in order this year for sure.

I'm so bad with keeping up with shows - I do still want to watch Atypical. Loved the new Spider Man film - Tom Holland is great.

Molly's Game, The Greatest Showman, Call Me By Your Name, and I, Tonya are all ones I really want to see! I was really looking forward to Pitch Perfect 3, but I don't know, it felt too overdone or something. I liked the ending and glad it got some closure though. I was skeptical about Spider-Man: Homecoming mostly because it was Toby Maguire anymore, but I guess he is too old to be a "young" Spidey. I really enjoyed it! Sad to hear about One Mississippi. It's been on my watch list since it came out, but I never got around to watching it, and didn't know it got cancelled! Boo.

I loved the first season of The Crown. Totally forget that the second season is out. I totally need to watch it. I haven't been to the movies in forever and can't even remember the last movie i saw. Yikes. I do want to see The Greatest Showman, it looks really good.
