Current Books
Refugee is three stories, told from the child's point of view, as they seek refuge from Germany, Cuba, and Syria with their families. It's really good and even though it's a middle grade book, I think EVERYONE should read it. One of Us is Lying is a YA contemporary murder mystery. Five kids have detention and one of them dies, so who's the one that killed him? I figured out the ending pretty early on, but that didn't stop me from wanting to keep going. It was a fun, addictive read. I just started The Best Kind of People, which is about a beloved teacher arrested for sexual abuse of high school students, told through his wife and two children. I like it so far.

Current Playlist
Trouble in the Streets - BC Unidos feat. Carly Rae Jepsen
Wolves - Selena Gomez x Marshmello
Visions of Gideon - Sufjan Stevens
Bedroom Floor - Liam Payne
1000 - N.E.R.D. feat. Future
Miss You - Louis Tomlinson
Love So Soft - Kelly Clarkson

Current Food
Ellenos is a family-run Greek yogurt place that makes small batches from locally and seasonally sourced ingredients and IT IS AMAZING. It's more like a dessert and I indulge way too often. I normally buy it at the grocery store, but when I can make it to an actual yogurt bar I'm in heaven. It's only available in Washington, Oregon, and the Bay Area, so if you can get your hands on some, do it!

Current Shows
We're four episodes into Ozark and Jacob likes it a lot more than I do. I don't know why I can't get into it, but I told him he could go on without me and maybe I'd revisit it later. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is a new series on Amazon, brought to you by the Palladinos (Gilmore Girls) and I gobbled it up in two days! It's just flat out charming. I've missed that fast-paced dialogue Amy is famous for and love the cast, especially Alex Borstein.

Current Celeb Crush
Remember Dick Casablancas from Veronica Mars? He was played by Ryan Hansen, who has a new cop show on YouTube with Samira Wiley. I've only watched the first episode, but plan on tuning in because I love Ryan SO much. He's cute, so funny, and is my favorite Instagram follow because he literally makes me LOL every day. He's still BFFs with Kristen Bell, so she pops up in his stories quite a bit. I love him.

Current Excitement
Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn. I love the movie and can't wait to finally see it on stage! I've been listening to the soundtrack all week. Plus, I'm going with my mom and we're going to have a little Christmas evening in Seattle, so it'll be a nice night.

Current Movies
Lots of movies to review! Murder on the Orient Express was fun. I'm not into murder mysteries, but this had such a great cast, it kept my interest the whole way through. I was pleasantly surprised by Justice League. Although I didn't read any reviews, I sort of went in thinking I was supposed to hate it, so maybe my expectations were low. It wasn't great by any means, but I enjoyed the watch. Lady Bird was fantastic!! I laughed, I cried, I cringes, I nodded along, I reminisced. All of the relationships touched my heart, but I especially loved the mother-daughter scenes. You never know how a book, adored by everyone, is going to work out as a movie, but Wonder was really well done! The cast was great, I loved that it was still told from different perspectives, and I teared up constantly. Coco was magical! The animation is wonderful, the family dynamic is so refreshing, and the themes are rather complex. During the movie, I didn't really think my kids were getting it, but my dad and I were definitely emotional. We talked about it the whole way home and turns out, they did understand it all and really liked it. Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri was great. The cast was incredible, especially Frances McDormand! I was expecting a slow, sad movie, but it was a lot more than that. I was surprised by how many times I laughed.

Current Mood
Tired. Just plain tired. I'm happy and well, I just can't seem to get a good night sleep lately, which is very unlike me. I'm tossing and turning and uncomfortable and too hot, then too cold. My body feels it and my face clearly shows how tired I am. Ugh.

Current Podcast
People were raving about Dirty John a few months ago and I finally got around to listening to all six episodes of this true crime series. I finished in two days, so I was definitely interested in the story about how Debra Newell met and wed sociopath John Meehan. It's told through interviews with people who knew both of them and the ending is bonkers!

I just saw Murder on the Orient Express--I've probably read the book 5 times, and know it by heart, but I was still entranced by the movie's story and the characters. Really enjoyed it--not a perfect film, but well-worth seeing!

So much yes to Refugee. It's an amazing book and EVERYONE needs to read it. I also really want to read One of Us Is Lying so I'm glad you enjoyed it. That yogurt place looks all sorts of amazing. Yum. I really want to see Lady Bird, and Wonder, and Coco! I DID see Justice League though and thought it was fun - Ezra Miller as The Flash was my favorite (I already just love Ezra!) and Murder on the Orient Express was a good one. A bit slower than expected, but I love the whole mystery aspect of it! I knew the ending, having read the book, but it's been years so I couldn't remember all the details.

I saw your tweet about Mrs. Maisel and just started watching it- I really like it so far! Alex is my favorite haha. I didn't really Justice League... too much CGI and I didn't really get where the villain came from? That bothered me. I laughed at The Flash and Aquaman was pretty to look at! Wonder and Ladybird are both on my list. I didn't know there were shows on Youtube? But I love Samira Wiley, so may have to check that out. Hope you have a great holiday night out with your mom!

I stalled after episode 5 of Ozark. I started watching Life in Pieces and only have 3 or 4 episodes left. I plan to go back to Ozark after that. I added Mrs. Maisel to my list. I just can't keep up with all of the good tv out there these days. But I've got Netflix, Hulu Live and Prime now. I'll get to more eventually.

I loved Murder on the Orient Express! I hadn't been to the cinema for a while before that and it was good to go and zen out to a classic. I love going to the cinema but it's horrifyingly expensive here so I save it for a treat. Hopefully there will be some more treat-worthy films coming out soon!

I have Dirty John on my to-listen list but I haven't been in a podcast mood lately.

Ozark was amazing, and I had the exact same reaction to One of Us is Lying.
