Tuesday Topics: Eight Characters I Loathe

I'm trying to keep my kids busy and out of the house all summer and haven't had much time at the computer lately, but it's always nice to check in with a quick post. Jenn's Tuesday Topics prompts are always so fun, but especially this one: eight characters you loathe. I went with TV characters and the hardest part about this list was narrowing it down to just eight. Here they are in no particular order...

Skyler White (Breaking BadClearly, Walter was TERRIBLE, but he was watchable. Skyler was selfish and horrible from the day he told her about his cancer and only got worse as the show went on. It was really hard to have any sympathy for her.

Marnie Michaels (GirlsAll the girls are the absolute worst, which was basically the point of the show, but I hated Marnie. She's a whiny, spoiled, uptight, judgmental, self-important phony and not even the last season could redeem her. I'm afraid this character ruined Allison Williams for me.

Screech (Saved by the BellHe started out fine as a nerdy kid in junior high, but to keep that unrealistic misfit character going all the way through college was a real stretch that irritated me in every scene. I did not root for this underdog. It sounds like his co-stars felt the same way about him in real life.

Jess Day (New Girl) At first I thought this was a refreshing character, but her "adorkable" ways got old, real fast. This is one of those shows where everyone's annoying personality is exaggerated, but Jess hasn't grown and rarely makes me laugh.

Pete Campbell (Mad MenSlime ball. That's the first thing I think of when I see his face. And then I want to punch it! It's hard for me to separate Pete from Vincent and I can't believe he's married to Alexis Bledel. The most hilarious thing is he looks a lot like an ex, who thankfully was not as smarmy.

Rachel Berry (Glee) Glee was a guilty pleasure hate-watch of mine for a few season before I hated it too much to continue. Sure the storylines and characters got more ludicrous as the series went on, but it mostly had to do with Lea Michele as obnoxious and overrated Rachel. I can't stand either of them.

Peyton (One Tree Hill) I didn't mind Hilarie Burton as an MTV VJ, so she really did a great job portraying the worst character on the show. Her troubled, brooding, whiny, woe-is-me artist shtick got old so fast. She was over-dramatic and a terrible friend. She didn't deserve Lucas or Brooke.

April Nardini (Gilmore Girls) Everyone knows Lorelai and Rory are pretty insufferable and most of the eccentric townsfolk irked me, but no one was worse than April. The storyline was absurd, but her grating Rory 2.0 character made it so much worse.

I don't wanna stop at eight! I have so many more! Dana (Homeland), Piper (Orange is the New Black), Quinn, Rowan, and Cyrus (Scandal), Andie (Dawson's Creek), Ellis (Smash), Emily (Friends), Ted (How I Met Your Mother), Nicki (Big Love), Serena (Gossip Girl), Taylor and Kirk, (Gilmore Girls), Alison (Pretty Little Liars), Debra (Dexter), and Kimmy (Full House, though she's not as bad in the reboot). I could go on and on and on...

Who are the characters you loathe?

I love this idea and might have to steal it.

Freaking Pete. He kills me.

I hate the sister on Dexter. She made me stop watching the show.

April Nardini was the WORST. I loved Dawson's Creek but had to look up Andie- I must have blocked her out! I totally forgot about Hilarie Burton, but her character was pretty awful. I liked Jess/New Girl when it first came out, but I agree. I stopped watching after she and Nick broke up. Great picks!

Oh you picked a few I totally forgot about - Skylar White is a big one!! And yes to April as well, I would put her right up with Tristan. We gave up on New Girl as well, Jess got to me after awhile too. I did finish Glee, Rachel is definitely annoying, but I still watched it to the end.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

This list made me realize all the more how much tv I've missed in my lifetime. The only one I knew was Screech.
