Current Books
Some Girls Are is like Mean Girls on steroids and I couldn't put it down! It's so messed up. I highly recommend Al Franken's Giant of the Senate to all of my progressive friends! It's funny and maddening and a great look at campaigning and working in Washington. Based on the premise, I didn't think I'd love The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (even though everyone has been raving about it), but I really did! It was totally engrossing.

Current Playlist
Aly & AJ - Take Me
Niall Horan - Slow Hands
The Veronicas - The Only High
Carly Rae Jepson - Cut To The Feeling
Get Low - Zedd & Liam Payne
Selena Gomez - Bad Liar

(This video is really terrible though.)

Current Food
A Pita Pit just opened up near me and I can't get enough. I haven't eaten there since college!
It's such an easy, healthy, refreshing lunch to grab on a hot day.

Current Mood
Fulfilled. That's not really a mood, is it? We are only two weeks into summer break and it's been so much fun. We've been to the drive-in, the movie theater, and game farm. Jacob and I have seen a comedian (Michael Che), a concert (Queen + Adam Lambert), and went cider tasting. I saw two musicals (Cabaret and Romy and Michele's High School Reunion). The kids did a week of swim camp, started ice skating lessons, and have been playing outside non-stop. And we've got a good routine for workbooks and reading so we avoid the summer slide. We are insanely busy and I love it!

Current Celebrity Crush
Niall Horan. Again. I'm obsessed with his new music and think he's just so cute and humble.
He needs to release a full album and go on tour already!

Current Excitement
We're going to Portland, OR for a weekend getaway soon. I'm excited to bring the kids for the first time.

Current Movies
Baywatch was really stupid. I knew of the terrible reviews going in, but I still wanted to see it. The only redeeming thing was Zac Efron's Ryan Lochte-like character. Also, his body was insane, but not my preference. He was huge! Wonder Woman was great. I'm not super into comic book movies and it follows the same formula as the rest of them, but it felt more refreshing to me and Gal Gadot is amazing. I didn't know much about It Comes At Night because it's so easy to find spoilers for thriller/horror movies. It was really good, just not what I was expecting, which isn't a bad thing at all. Cars movies are probably the weakest Disney films (except for the animation), but my kids loved the first one so it holds a special place in my heart. After a disastrous Cars 2 (I won't even let my kids watch that garbage), Cars 3 returned to simple storytelling and I thought it was cute.

Current Wish List Item
Basically everything from Patti Lapel. I already got Malibu Sands Beach Club,
Buzz's Girlfriend, and Zima, but want so many more.

Current Shows
We have been so busy that I haven't really had time for TV. I'm pretty sure my TiVo is at 90% right now. I'm halfway through The Handmaid's Tale and love everything about it! It's so creepy and the performances are phenomenal. I've also started watching The Only Way Is Essex. It's the UK's version of Jersey Shore/The Hills and it's sooo dumb, but good, mindless TV. I have to watch with subtitles on though, because those accents! Check out Chris Pratt's impression

Current Favorite Product
Dr. Bronner's Organic Lip Balm. I LOVE Dr. Bronner's stuff. I've used their bar soap every day for the past two years and my skin has never felt better. I picked up the Peppermint lip balm on a whim at Target and loved it so much I ordered the four pack on Amazon to add Naked, Lemon Lime, and Orange Ginger to my collection. I haven't been able to quit Blistex for the last twenty years, but think I can with these!

Current Podcasts
Prinze & The Wolf is comedian Josh Wolf and '90s heartthrob Freddie Prinze, Jr. talking about the most random stuff. They touch on pop culture, comedy, martial arts, parenting, cooking, etc. I sort of tune out when they talk about Star Wars and WWE though. Truu Stowray is former MTV VJ Dave Holmes and fellow pop-culture lover Mike Doughty (singer-songwriter/former front man of Soul Coughing) dissecting each episode of The Real World. They're only two episodes in, but I can tell it's going to be a favorite of mine. Under The Skin with Russell Brand is so good and relevant and important. Each week asks a new question (about terrorism, philosophy, feminism, veganism, identity politics, etc) with guests from academia and pop culture.

I'm linking up with Kristen and Gretch!

I'll have to give Russell's podcast a listen. I've always liked him.

I need to watch The Handmaid's Tale when I finish Riverdale. I keep hearing great things about it. Speaking of Riverdale, I'm only 2 episodes in. I just haven't been making time for reading or tv watching. I'm actually out living my life and it's WONDERFUL! :)

Ro and I both love Slow Hands. I need to see Wonder Woman. The only movie I've seen in the theater recently is Transformers. Oh, and the new Fast movie. I'm such a dude.

yay for loving The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo!!! Some Girls Are has been on my list for years, hopefully I'll get to it soon. I haven't seen the video for Bad Liar yet but dang that song is catchy. Bummer about Baywatch, I haven't seen it yet but was hoping it would be kind of funny. I've heard great things about Wonder Woman, I really want to see it. KC won't, so I might have to go on my own! I haven't seen Cars 2 (sounds like a good thing lol) but I loved the original when it came out! I really want to watch The Handmaid's Tale but I don't have Hulu anymore. You get commercials if you don't have the plus thing right? Gross. Ha.

Visiting from the link up :) The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo has been on my TBR list forever! Oh how I wish I could get to all the books on my Goodreads list. I also have a long list of shows to get to, my DVR is very close to filling up. Everyone's been raving about the Handmaids Tale so that's next up!

Those pins are so cute! I got some Pete and Pete ones at an event recently but I don't know what to do with them! I love the Can't Hardly Wait one. I was obsessed with Seth Green in middle school. And now I also need that lip balm...

Niall Horan made my list too! I had never heard of him before (because I was never a 1D fan), but I'm so happy he went solo! What's the summer slide? I've been meaning to read Some Girls Are forever, and Erin even sent me the book but I haven't started it yet! LOVED Wonder Woman and Gal Gadot! So jelly of your Portland trip- I really want to do a whole PNW vacation. Have a great time!
