My Happy Playlist

I'm definitely a fall and winter kind of girl. Being a northwest native I feel like the rain is part of me. I am definitely a pluviophile - someone who finds joy and peace of mind during rainy days. On the flip side, there's Seasonal Affective Disorder. My dad, who was raised in the south, suffers from it every winter. We got him a SAD lamp a few years ago and he said it really helps. The beauty of living here though, is that we get all the seasons, so just when we're getting sick of one, the next rolls in. About this time every year I start to get cabin fever. I think it's become worse as my kids get older because I need them to GO OUTSIDE and there are still too many rainy days.

We had a little taste of spring in February with a week of 60 degree sunny days and another beautiful day over the weekend. As I watch the grey clouds roll by before a big rainstorm hits, I'm dreaming about spring: Mariners games, sunglasses, the scent of fresh cut grass, cherry blossom trees, Easter egg hunts, later sunsets, evening walks, pedicures, and going outside without bundling up. On days like today I sometimes put on a playlist of the songs that instantly put me in a good mood and take me to a sunny place. I just can't be grumpy when I hear the first few notes.

So many good songs on this list!

I did a similar post awhile ago. Sometimes music is the key to lifting you out of a funk, even for a few minutes.

Sooo many good songs! I definitely added You Make My Dreams to my new playlist the other day. I can't get enough of that song.

I'm so glad I don't have SAD. I love the PNW. Michael is like the opposite of SAD, he's happier in the rain and gloom. I've reached the point where I'm sick of the constant rain though. I want another 60-degree-and-sunny day!

CARELESS WHISPER! I started laughing so hard when that came on during Deadpool because I had completely forgotten about it! It's also one of my best friend's favorite songs which I made fun of her for but I really do love it. Very happy to see Britney, J.Lo, and Spice Girls (throwback!) on here too. So many on here that I need to check out though!

so many good songs! i totally agree with a few of them about how they put me in an instant good mood, especially: In The Summertime by Mungo Jerry, I wanna dance with somebody by Whitney, Steal my sunshine (especially because they are goofy at the start of it) but omg the veronicas! hilarious. and faded! so many good songs.

I love a lot of these. Nice to see Empire Records represented!

I keep meaning to do some music posts because I find it interesting what people listen to when or what songs they associate with mood and season.

Spice Girls are definitely a summer group. We're on our 3rd or 4th day of rain. It's going to rain through the weekend and most of next week. Flooding everywhere!

Okay, maybe our musical tastes aren't THAT different. I actually like quite a few of these, too.
