Guilty Pleasures

When you find pleasure in something despite feeling bad for enjoying it, you might call that a guilty pleasure. Honestly, I don't really have any. I flat out admit to all the stupid stuff I watch, read, and listen to. If it makes me happy, what does it matter to anyone else? Let's take a look at some of the stuff you might roll your eyes at.

Lifetime movies based on true events. I don't watch the ones about Christmas or romance, or random stories about teenagers and strangers. (Why are there so many stranger movies? Stranger In My Bed, Stranger At The Door, Stranger In Town, Stranger With My Face, etc.) But if it's based on a celebrity (Anna Nicole, Elizabeth Taylor, Whitney), a TV show (Beverly Hills, 90210, Full House, Melrose Place) or ripped from the headlines (Casey Anthony, Jodi Arias, Amanda Knox), I'm all in and I don't care how bad they are.

Glee music. The show was a huge mess and I gave up on watching it a few seasons in, but it didn't stop me from downloading the fun cover songs and mashups each week. It was much easier for me to stomach Lea Michele when I didn't have to see Rachel on TV each week. Just don't get me started on the original music it tried to pass off at the end. Embarrassing!

Coleen Hoover. Her books are all so stupid and predictable and the characters are not like anyone you would meet in real life, but when I start one I can't put it down. Some of them even make me cry. Between eye rolls, of course. I rarely read the companion books or more in a series because all she does is change the POV and she has no idea how to write a real guy.

Beverly Hills reality shows. I know plenty of people into ridiculous reality shows, so no one should be able to judge me here. You all watch The Bachelor, the dumb Duggars, Big Brother, etc. I don't even watch any competition shows (Project Runway, The Voice, Dancing with the Stars). The only two reality shows I watch are Vanderpump Rules and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and I'll never quit them no matter how stupid and staged they are.

Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Aniston movies. I love my Jennifers! Sadly they don't make masterpieces (except for Aniston's Cake. That was great and she was awesome in it), but I will still see everything they put out. The Wedding Planner and The Object of my Affection are two of my favorite movies, which is weird because I generally hate rom-coms.

Sugary cereals. Everyone knows that not even the most wholesome cereals like Cheerios and Corn Flakes are good for you. I rarely let my kids eat a bowl of Crispix because I know there's no real nutritional value in it. But after they go to bed, I eat the most terrible cereals and just don't care. It's better than eating cookies, right? Yeah, not really.

What are some of your guilty pleasures?

I still need to see the Lifetime movie on 90210.

I currently have a box of Cocoa Krispies and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereals in my cupboard lol.

I love rom-coms and I love those two. So, I suppose my "guilty pleasure" would be rom-coms in general!

I've only read the Slammed series (so far), but I will agree that she's pretty terrible writing from a guy's POV. I'd still read her other ones, but being that I kinda know her MO already, it may be a while before they make it to the top of my TBR pile!

I love me some Glee music but can't deal with Lea Michele, either.

I've only read one Colleen Hoover book but I can see her becoming my "guilty pleasure" read when I need a break from my usual fare (I don't actually believe in that term since I don't feel guilty about anything that makes me happy, no matter how bad it might actually be).

I looove The Wedding Planner, Monster-in-Law and The Break-Up! So good. I also love Maid in Manhattan. And I feel like I need to watch those other Jennifer movies ASAP.

I could really go for a bowl of Oops All Berries right about now. Oh and Glee mashups are the best.

Yay to all the sugary cereals!

I only like Jennifer Anniston is Friends. Otherwise she bugs me. There are a couple of Jennifer Lopez movies I don't hate, but just like with Nicholas Cage, I like them in spite of her and not because of her.

I do enjoy some of the Lifetime Movies, though. I'm with you on that. Did you ever watch the Will Ferrell and Kristin Wiig one? I couldn't decide if it was hilarious or sad.

There are a few places here that carry American "treats"...sugary cereals are some of them. I got my stepson some Captain Crunch BooBerry. He said it was the greatest cereal he'd ever had. He also that it was awesome that his poop was lime green after eating it. (you're a mother of boys; I thought you could handle that information.)

I still enjoy So You Think You Can Dance, and I'm on again/off again with American Idol. But, I'm watching this new one being the last season of it. I don't think I've seen an episode of RHOBH. I have watched OC, NJ, and NY in the past, but I gave them up a while ago. My husband and I watch Ink Master (a tattoo competition show).

My "guilty pleasure" author is James Patterson. I can't keep up with ALL his books, but I have (and will continue) to read a ton of them.

My favorite Jennifer Aniston movie is Switch with Jason Bateman. Have you seen it? If it's on, I have to watch.

I don't watch much reality tv, but I do watch two you mentioned. (Big Brother, Project Runway)

i've only read a couple of colleen hoover books - one i loved, another was meh, and another was great except for some annoying parts. i totally agree, she has no idea how to write / think like a man. neither do i, but i don't write books lol

I still have never seen Glee! I really need to check it out. I think it's on Netflix? I'm in need a new binge.
