Book Challenge

Since my fall film challenge was such a success (I came in third place!), and because I've been reading more than watching TV lately, I decided to join Erin's book challenge and I'm pretty excited about it! All you have to do is read ten books between January 1 and April 30, join this Facebook group, select your books, and post your list by December 15. Check out all the rules here.

Here's what I'm going to read:

Read a book, any book, that is at least 200 pages long
The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman

Read a book that begins with the letter D
Diary by Chuck Palahniuk

Read a book with a four word title
Go Set A Watchman by Harper Lee

Read a book with Mother/Father/Son/Daughter/Child in the title
The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards

Read a book from Amazon's top 100 authors list who is new to you
Thursdays at Eight by Debbie Macomber

Read a book set in Asia
Nagasaki: Life After Nuclear War by Susan Southard

Read a book with a season in the title
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Read a book that will make you laugh from this Buzzfeed list
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller

Read a book that is a friend or family member's favorite
The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith (Daniela's recommendation)

Read a book published the year you were born
Sophie's Choice by William Styron (1979)

This is a fun list. I listened to Catch-22 a couple of years ago. That book is hilarious and weird. The Light Between Oceans has been on my list for awhile and I've been trying to read Go Set a Watchman since it came out. I love the writing, but I haven't gotten to any actual story yet, so it's hard for me to stick with it.

What I love about this challenge is the vast differences in the books we've all chosen. I like also that the choices tend to reflect our personalities and preferences rather than all of us using the same ones. And thank god for TBR lists!! I pulled half my choices from mine!

The Light Between Oceans was a book swap rec months ago and still on my list. I'm checking out that Amazon top 100 author list to see which one I would pick!! Good luck!

Yay! So happy to have you playing along. I second what Jana says. I love looking at all the picks that people select. Of course, I always find new books that interest me that I want to read. And, you'll find the participation is a lot like Jenn's film challenge. She set that up after I had done the book challenge, and asked if I minded her to model it after mine. Of course, I didn't mind at all.

Love your list!!!! Can't wait to hear what you thought of all of these. I read maybe two out of your list!! So I'm eager to know about the other ones. Great challenge...now I gotta get my reading in too.

Oh what a cool challenge! I'm surprised that I've never read Catch-22, I keep meaning to but my book list is way too long. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on them all!

I LOVED The Memory Keeper's Daughter. But now I only vaguely remember it...I just know I loved it. I'm going to have to reread it. I'm reading To Kill A Mockingbird right now since I don't really remember it from high school and I want to remember it before I read Go Set a Watchman.

I've been reading a ton lately and neglecting my shows. I'm on book 31 for the year, which is a lot for me.

My brother in law loves the Chuck Palahniuk books so much! I hope that they're as good as he says that they are, and that you enjoy Diary. I selected The Cuckoo's Calling for another challenge, and I hope that we both end up liking it!
