A Few Of My Favorite Things

It's been a looong time since I did one of these posts. I used to catch up on blogs and gossip sites every weekend and share what I liked throughout the week in one post. I'm feeling uninspired, so I thought I'd bring it back. Here's what I've loved lately.

Award season is upon us! The Grammy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild nominees were all announced this week. I haven't seen all the movies yet, but so far I'm rooting for Room. Apparently I really need to see Carol, but it doesn't come out here until mid-January. Boo. I also think Taylor Swift finally deserves the awards she's been nominated for. 1989 is amazing.

Popsugar listed 26 books that will be movies in 2016. I've read Me Before You, The Girl on the Train, Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children, and Looking for Alaska and I'm so excited for those movies! I haven't read How To Be Single, but the movie looks awesome. I'll definitely see Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates because of Zac Efron. And I have The Taliban Shuffle, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Circle, Brain on Fire, The November Criminals, and The Light Between Oceans on my TBR list.

Speaking of books, Buzzfeed listed these 24 as the best fiction books of 2015. Have you read any? I LOVED A Little Life, really liked Fates and Furies, and kinda hated Get In Trouble and Binary Star. I have You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine, The Book of Aron, and Eileen on my nightstand right now. And I just added The Sellout, Fortune Smiles, and The Turner House to my list.

The WHL Calgary Hitmen held their annual Teddy Bear Toss earlier this week and the fans broke a record with 28,815 teddy bears thrown onto the ice after the first goal. It looks like they had so much fun! The stuffed animals will go to fifty local charities. Watch the video here. It's pretty awesome.

Vulture ranked all 30 Pixar shorts. I've only seen four, but really loved Sanjay’s Super Team before The Good Dinosaur last month. I need to watch more of them to decide which one I like best. Do you have a favorite?

Did you catch Ryan Gosling on SNL? The show wasn't great, but only because the sketches sucked. He really impressed me with his Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz though! And I love that he broke character so many times because it always makes me LOL.

The Hollywood Reporter had lots of casting news for HBO's Big Little Lies and I am excited! The three mothers will be played by Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley while Adam Scott will play Ed (Madeline/Witherspoon's husband).

And finally, Allure came up with a list of the most popular nail polish color from each state. Washington is a shade of grey, which makes perfect sense to me. Do you think your state's polish is accurate?

I've missed these!

I just bought Eileen last night - sick of waiting for the library to bring it to me.

Reading your list I just realized I didn't read a single book in 2015. I picked up one, read the first chapter and never finished it... I am horrible at this reading thing. And I actually DO enjoy it.

I loved Ryan on SNL - I've never been Ryan fan (I know, GASP right?) I like when he does FUNNY stuff. He was excellent - I guess being in the MIckey Mouse club really helped him, Justin and Brittany excel at SNL!

I am shocked that Alabama's color is that "green/gold" I would have thought for SURE it would be a shade of Red. And my home state, that berry purple, seems fairly fitting :)

ME BEFORE YOU IS GOING TO BE A MOVIE?!?!? Clearly I can't contain my excitement. Ahhhhhh!!! Also, The Girl on the Train. Heck yea!

I'm still trying to wrap my head around Finnick from The Hunger Games being cast as Will in Me Before You.

I commented to Nadine when she posted the thing about the nail polish that I have never seen anyone wearing Delaware's most popular color. And it's a small state. I should have seen someone at some point.

I HATED You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine. It was a DNF for me. Maybe you'll have better luck or enjoy it more.

I enjoyed this!

I'm a sucker for awards season. I'm pulling for Thinking Out Loud for the Grammy. As a rock music fan, I always get annoyed by what the Grammy's consider for the "rock" category.

I enjoyed the list of books becoming movies. MANY of them are on my tbr list...I best get to readin' them. And.......I just added about five or six more books to read because of your Buzzfeed link!

Shailene Woodley in Big little lies? and Reese Witherspoon?! i guess they aren't staying true to the whole australian thing, unless they do horrible accents. oh lord. that should be interesting.

I have a LOT of movies to see in preparation for Awards Season. I feel woefully behind.

I read How to Be Single and didn't love it. I think this is going to be one of those rare times that the movie is better than the book.

And I LOVE that Teddy Bear Toss thing! That's so amazing!
