1995 Playlist

I recently read an article about twenty songs that turned twenty years old this year. That brings us back to 1995. Why does that only seem like ten years ago to me?! On this day twenty years ago, I was a junior in high school, which was my favorite grade in all my years of school. I was in this weird experimental block of classes with eighteen other students and it was a blast. I was totally in love with my first real boyfriend who worshiped me. I was still good friends with all my junior high besties, but also had a great new group of girlfriends (that I'm still friends with today). And Jacob and I became best buds while sitting next to each other in homeroom every day. Awww...

I feel like the '90s were such a great time for music. I'm sure that's mostly because these songs remind me of people, places, and experiences in my life, but I think these songs have stood the test of time. Take a look at what I was listening to in 1995.

Do any of these songs bring back memories for you,
or am I just an old lady reminiscing about the good old days?

If you feel like taking a trip down memory lane, you can listen to my Spotify playlist right here.

Twenty years ago on this date, I was a freshman in college. Holy hell. So many of these songs take me back to basement parties and awful beer.

I have a 90s Spotify playlist and I need to save this to add to the collection.

I literally hate that this is already 20 years ago - it feels like 10 to me too!!! Sadly... in 1995 I was a freshman in college, not really sadly, but damn it was a lot time ago!

I swear Lightening Crashes was in SUCH heavy rotation on the radio it made me want to pull my hair out - now though, it makes me happy to hear it.

And as a total Weezer obsessive, Say It Ain't So to this day is still one of my favorites by them! =w=

Just a Girl, No Doubt, still obsessed.

Good by Better Than Ezra, LOVE!

This Is A Call by Foo Fighters - while I will say, I always liked them, my obsession literally didn't start until the Wasting Light Album - they were always the band to me that had Everlong, and I was OBSESSED with the song, but I never purchased an album, so stupid. Everytime they were on the radio or MTV I was glued, but I never bothered to purchase a CD... shame on me!

Oddly I've never liked, or got into Radiohead (still don't get it) or Oasis (never cared for them). And I am sorry because I know you love them :)

Big Poppa was my jam. To this day I can't hear it without wanting to dance or bob my head to it.

Gin Blossoms - love!

I still love I Wish by Skee-lo!

I am going to have to add: 1994-95 Pearl Jam's VItalogy album, and the single "Not For You" that was in heavy rotation and between that album and Stone Temple Pilots Plush, I warped the tapes in my car and had to buy new ones I played them SO stinking much :) And my guilty pleasure at the time, summer of 1994... Ace of Base!!! Sheesh! ;) haha

So many of my favorites on this list- I love it! I also had Bitch by Meredith Brooks on heavy rotation, along with All That She Wants by Ace of Base. I actually have a 90's music post in my drafts folder- but now I don't want to post it because of all of the similarities!

This is why we're such great friends. I love pretty much all of these. And Wonderwall is absolutely one of the best!

So, so many memories! I was a junior in high school 20 years ago too. Where has the time gone? I mean, we only graduated yesterday, right?!

I used Wonderwall as part of an AP music/semantics project. It totally ruined the song for me!

I am the old lady of the blogger world, so twenty years ago, 1995, I was a Senior in college. SO many of these songs were a part of my life at this crazy time of life.

But...it was a time I was still listening to entire cds (not just singles). So, I can't think of 1995 without thinking of No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom, The Offspring's Smash, and The Goo Goo Dolls A Boy Named Goo. These three cds stayed in my disc1, disc2, disc3 position of my 6-disc cd changer in my car. Many of days and nights were spent with the sunroof open singing at the top of my lungs with a group of friends.

Yes. Wonderwall is one of the greatest songs ever recorded.

I love this! I was a Sophomore (or was it Junior? Haha!) in high school around that time. Seeing the list of songs made me remember how awesome the 90s really was. It was a great time to be a teen-ager. Haha! "Waterfalls", "You Oughta Know", "Just A Girl", "1979"... Oh, wow. Yeah, thanks for the great trip down memory lane. :)

That list is pretty similar to what mine would be, I think you just have a few extras but cover all of what I was into! I still freakin love Gin Blossoms and Better Than Ezra. And to this day that Presidents of The United States album is one of my all times favorites. So good. The songs are dumb as hell, but so good lol.
