Remember Me This Way by Sabine Durrant A year after her husband Zach's death, Lizzie lays flowers at the site of his car accident and sees a note and flowers tied to a tree. Someone has been there before her. She begins to uncover clues about his past, their relationship, and his death. This psychological thriller switches POV from present day Lizzie to past Zach. It started off slow, but picks up in the middle and gets really messed up by the end. I couldn't put it down, it kept me guessing and I really, really hated crazy Zach! ★★★★
Movie Star by Lizzie Pepper by Hilary Liftin Actress Lizzie Pepper was swept off her feet by mega star Rob Mars. Their whirlwind romance, pregnancy, and wedding were tabloid gold, but Lizzie left the marriage and wrote this tell-all book. The story is clearly modeled after Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, so if you ever read anything about their relationship, or the demise of it, you'll already know the basics, though the names of people, places and the church of Scientology have all been changed and some minor characters were added. It's well written, a quick read, and made me feel even more sorry for Katie Holmes than I did at the time, but it wasn't amazing. ★★★
Dear Mr. You by Mary-Louise Parker The actress writes letters to real and hypothetical men she's encountered who have made her who she is today. She paints awesome pictures of people, places, and time periods in her life with a stream of consciousness style of writing. The book starts out strong with letters to her dad and grandfather, which I loved. But the stories got weirder, lost me somewhere in the middle, and I ended up skimming the rest of the book. I think it was a unique way to write a memoir, and she's a surprisingly good writer, but it just wasn't my thing. ★★
