What I'm Loving Wednesday

I sound like a broken record lately, but here it goes. I'm sick, so I haven't been blogging. It's been a really mild winter here in the PNW, so people are getting and staying sick longer. There are flu, pneumonia, and whopping cough outbreaks as well as cases of measles and mumps in Washington. Crazy! We've been battling all kinds of colds and respiratory infections in our house all month. Nolan's three week cold took a turn for the worse on Saturday when he spiked a high fever and started throwing up. He has a sinus infection and bronchitis. I went in on Sunday for this cold I haven't been able to shake since mid-December. Since then I've been diagnosed with a sinus infection, upper respiratory infection, and laryngitis. I take the antibiotics, feel ok for a week, then come down with something again. The doctor said it's clear I have some sort of infection going on and decided to treat me for pneumonia. I'm also on a muscle relaxant because I've hurt myself by coughing. What the hell? And as if that's not enough to handle, on Thursday, Milo was spinning and twirling in the kitchen with socks on, as he usually does. He fell, bumped his face on the hardwood floor and split his chin open. Every time the boys fall I automatically say, "I'm pretty sure this needs stitches," and Jacob blows me off. This time I called Jacob at work and said, "No, really. I'm 99% sure he needs stitches." Jacob rushed home, then rushed Milo to Urgent Care, where sure enough, he got three stitches under his chin. UGH!

Anyway, on to something lighter. Jodi and Rachel have this What I'm Loving Wednesday link up, so it's an easy way for me to post something positive while I'm feeling like life is seriously kicking my ass.

I'm loving Netflix DVDs. After eight years of getting DVDs by mail, we decided to cancel it (but kept the streaming service) a few years ago. We weren't watching the movies fast enough and downloading or running to Redbox a few times a month was easier. Lately I've been downloading like crazy though, and that really adds up! I decided to give the DVDs another shot and I'm so glad I did. I've had thirty movies on my IMDb watchlist for over a year that I couldn't find anywhere relatively cheap. Netflix had 26 of them! I'm so old school.

I'm loving my neighborhood book club. I joined a book club a few years ago, but ten out of twelve months of the year they read books I'd never think twice about, so I hardly participate. A neighbor started a book club through Facebook back in December and the first meeting in January was so much fun. The conversation flowed, new friendships formed, and we were all on the same page about what we like to read. I'm glad to finally get to know some of my neighbors better too.

I'm loving Miles Teller. I first noticed him as Willard in the Footloose remake, but really started liking him in The Spectacular Now. I also saw 21 & Over, That Awkward Moment, and Divergent and thought of him as an actor to watch. Then he totally won me over in Whiplash and was really cute in Two Night Stand. I'll see anything he's in now. I love him.

I'm loving my Fitbit. I thought that once I recovered from surgery I'd be back to working out regularly, but clearly that didn't happen since I've been so sick. I have been wearing my Fitbit again though. While I love seeing how many steps I'm taking and how hard I'm working, I think my favorite feature is the sleep monitor. I got a real wake up call last week when I saw how little sleep I'm actually getting these days. I have since given myself a strict bedtime.

I'm loving One Direction. Duh. But seriously, I haven't stopped listening to their album FOUR since it came out in November. And I'm getting so excited to see them in concert again this summer! I'm most obsessed with the upbeat '80s sounding songs Stockholm Syndrome and No Control, as well as the ballad, 18, written by Ed Sheeran. Take a listen. They aren't as boyband-y as you might think.

Miles Teller was a great Willard in the "Footloose" remake. I honestly think he was my favorite part of that movie.

Come on spring!!! Am seems like everyone is sick these days. I got a fitbit for Christmas. I need to wear it more. I also realized that I'm a very restless sleeper. I feel like part of it is the actual fitbit. I'm conscious that it's there and think about it all night. Weird I know.

Ok, I think I might like One Direction.

I keep seeing Miles Teller's name everywhere.

The best part of the week used to be a red Netflix envelope in the mail!

Ugh you can't get better! That sucks. I hope this time meds will kick it for good. Being sick sucks. I want a Fitbit. It really is cool to see all it can tell you and the sleep part fascinates me! I need to get one! Thanks for linking up now go rest so you can get better!!

Thank you for linking up with us! :) I have Netflix streaming, but I haven't signed up for the DVDs yet. I'm tempted too, seeing that a lot of movies I want to watch are on the DVDs only.

I hope you feel better. I've been battling a sinus infection over a week- it's brutal. The weather here is so crazy. It's cold, then warm, then cold, then warm. We've had 70 degree temperatures for four days, and now it's going to be in the 40s by the weekend. Ug!!

I also joined a book club this year- I'm nerding out over it. Lol. I've never been in a book club before.

Have a great day!!

I just took my Netflix subscription from 2 DVDs at a time to 1. I can't quit them completely!

That's great that you're loving your book club. I miss mine. They all moved away.

I just got my first 2 DVDs from Netflix. I'll be watching Boyhood and The Grand Budapest Hotel this weekend. Yay! I'm probably going to change it to 1 disc out at a time because things are about to get crazy busy. The movies arrive super fast anyway.

I need to start a book club. I keep saying it and not doing anything about it.

I'm definitely on the Miles Teller bandwagon. He's pretty freaking great.

I've thought about bringing back our DVD subscription but I'm not 100% sure. The husband and I will have to discuss.

That stinks you're just not getting over whatever your body is battling. My mom ended up getting it for the third time in a month and it just wouldn't give up. Even being in Florida it's been a bad cold and flu season. Especially being sick that is not enough sleep at night but that could also be why you're so restless if you're coighing. I stopped using my fitbit sleep thing because the tapping thing but maybe I'll try to start using it again to see how I'm doing. Your book club sounds awesome!

Miles Teller is awesome! I find myself loving all of his movies. I haven't seen Two Night Stand yet though. It's on my list! I've been thinking of giving DVDs (well, Blu-Rays for me) another try too. And I've also been wanting to join a local book club but it feels odd joining one with people who have been in it for years. Social anxiety I guess!
