Lionel and Cher

For Carrie's birthday, I got us tickets to see Lionel Richie, one of her very favorite singers ever. I was expecting to sit down and enjoy some smooth '80s jams, but Lionel had so much energy and put on such an awesome show! He sang effortlessly, interacted with the crowd a ton, and had really cool sets and videos. In addition to the classic love songs that EVERYONE sang along to, he played fun, loud, Commodores songs that really got the audience dancing. I was pleasantly surprised by the 65-year old. I was also happy to see that we weren't the youngest people in attendance. CeeLo Green was a fun opener too. His funk/disco vibe helped get everyone pumped up for the night and he was oh so sparkly.

For my birthday, Carrie got us tickets to see Cher. I'm not a gigantic fan, but she's got quite the history and an amazing list of hits. I've always heard that her concerts are fantastic so she's been on my bucket list for years and years. Her Dressed to Kill Tour is in support of her new album, which I hadn't heard, but it didn't matter. She brought out all the hits! Her backup was amazing and kept us entertained during transitions. They danced, sang, and performed circus acts. It was on par with a Vegas extravaganza. Cher didn't do much dancing, but she sang every single note of every single song, shared some funny stories, and looked like she was having a blast. I'd go see her again in a second. Cyndi Lauper was also a blast! She was so hilarious and quirky, sang her frickin' heart out, and seemed genuinely honored and thankful to be there. It was such a great night!

Cher had TWELVE wardrobe changes for 17 songs!
My crappy pictures don't do her any justice. Check out some of the costumes she wore.

If Lionel or Cher come your way this summer, I highly recommend them both!

I LOVE Cher! I saw her years ago in Salt Lake and it was one of the most entertaining concerts I have ever seen in my life.

Don't even get me started on my obsession with Cher... It was the first concert I had been to. I love her so much!

I love that you love so many different types of music and go to so many concerts. Such good bday gifts to each other! As I told you my parents went to Cher when she was in Boston and they loved it!

I wish Lionel was coming here. He's not even coming anywhere close. John is obsessed with him. So glad you had such a great time at both shows!
