You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz I really wanted to like this book because the premise sounded so great. Grace is a devoted mother, wife to a pediatric oncologist, and a therapist who just wrote her first book, but her world crumbles when her husband goes missing and she has to put the pieces together. I actually did like the story, even if Grace wasn't exactly likable, but I didn't like the writing style. There was way too much inner monologue detailing mundane parts of her life and it really took away from the story. This 450 page book could have easily been 200 pages and much, much better.

Throwaway Girl by Kristine Scarrow This coming-of-age story revolves around Andy, a sweet and smart girl who was taken from her abusive mother, placed in different foster homes, and eventually ended up in a home for girls. Now that she's 18-years old, she has to start a new life and make it on her own. I felt that the author threw every single negative scenario she could think of at Andy, but breezed through it in just 184 pages, which made it hard to express how deep and damaging these experiences were. I also recognize that this is a young YA book (probably appropriate for ages 13-16) and I'm not the target audience. I did like the topic, writing style, and supporting cast, and even though it was very sad at times, it was a quick, easy read.

Psychos: A White Girl Problems Book by Babe Walker I didn't know this book was a sequel when I requested it. I'll definitely read the first one too. Even though the plot was extremely ridiculous, it was easy to read and pretty hilarious. I finished it in one day. I couldn't relate to Babe Walker at all, and sometimes that makes it hard for me to get into a book, but I loved her and this insane story. In this installment, Babe returns home after a stint in rehab for her shopping and drug addiction, but it hasn't cured her narcissism. She fights with her friends and ex-boyfriends and discovers she has a stalker. She parties around the world, trying to heal herself and take a break from those around her, but her stalker and former love life still haunt her. The big twist was predictable early on, but it was still such a fun read! Just don't take it too seriously.

I received these books from NetGalley for review purposes.
