Glamping

Summer is upon us! Memorial Day weekend typically marks the the start of the season around here and it helps that we've already had a few 80 degree days this month. Unfortunately this weekend doesn't look as warm, so we're just going to dust off our fire pit and outdoor furniture and spend some time in the backyard. Normally we head to our lake property for a day to swim and up the camp site from winter damage. We spend a lot of time out there during the summer, but haven't actually camped since 2012. It was just too hard with toddlers. Now that the boys are three and five it should be a little easier and I swore to Jacob I'd give it another try. To be honest, I'm not looking forward to it. Sleeping on an air mattress is really uncomfortable. There's almost no cell phone coverage. No one is going to get enough sleep because of the late sunset/early sunrise, cold night air, and coyote howls off in the distance. The bugs and frogs creep me out. I'm going to be super paranoid with the kids around the campfire and running with sticks. We're going to eat crappy food because it's too hard to prepare healthy meals. Oh wait, that one's not so bad. Ideally I'd just take a stack of books and go glamping. I want to pay for a luxury tent that's all set up with a planned menu, adult beverages and oh, I don't know, heat! Jacob would never go for this. He hikes the Olympic and Cascade mountains for fun. What a weirdo. Doesn't glamping look amazing though?

I. LOVE. CAMPING! Sure there are the annoying things you listed - and often times unless I'm absolutely exhausted (read: went canoe/kayaking all day before hand) I don't sleep worth a hoot. Mike usually snores (because we drink all day), and often times we seem to find the popular teen hangout spot where they come to party when we camp with BLOWS.

However I love getting back to nature. I say you two should totally go Glamping but, go for a special occasion, an anniversary or something big. I think that's the only way I could justify it to myself and Mike is to go for a special occasion.

This weekend we will be doing some house work on the new home, possibly going to the movies (New X-Men), and maybe build our own fire pit and/or go kayaking - I've been sick so I might just try to take it easy and not get in the frigid waters ;)

I have never been camping. I'm way too much of a prima donna for it. Sleeping on the ground does not seem fun. Plus I would be so scared that an animal would appear. And then you have the bugs! I hate bugs. And I need my blow dryer. ha! However, I would totally go glamping!!

Best, Mree

I've never heard of glamping, but now I wanna do it!

I love camping, though. I sleep great in the outdoors, even with all the reasons not to.

Let's go glamping together! I told John I want to take the boys caping this summer too! I spent my childhood caping out every weekend in the summer. I want to start the same tradition with my boys. Well maybe not every weekend but definitely every year!

So wanna do this now! I never liked camping. Bugs, and weird tents or so not fully protecting me? No. But glamping? YES please.

Sooooo googling this right now. :)

I'm definitely not an outdoorsy girl, so camping is not my thing...but glamping? I think I could do that. :)

I've only camped out once at the lake. It was for two or three nights. We slept in a tent. There were showers in an outhouse type of building. It's definitely not my favorite, but I didn't mind it too bad for a short amount of time. And I wasn't really in the woods.

This would be the only kind of camping I would agree to! HA!
