Aca-Obsessed

I've always loved and had great appreciation for all types of music (though some may question my taste), so it shouldn't come as a surprise that I like a cappella. But honestly, I didn't know anything about it until 2012, when I saw the trailer for an upcoming movie called Pitch Perfect. I read the book it was based on (Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory) before the film's release and that's when I fell in nerd love with it. In the past two months I've been to three a cappella events.

In December I saw Straight No Chaser for the second time. They were just as amazing as the first, though I don't think I'd see them again. They mixed in some new songs, but had played sung the majority during their last tour.

Then I went to the ICCA quarterfinals (International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella), which featured a cappella groups from universities in the Pacific Northwest. This was on the same level as the first scene in Pitch Perfect where Aubrey throws up. My iPhone videos were really crappy so I took these from the groups' YouTube channels, which are probably worse than mine. I'm still so amazed at the talent of these teenagers!

Last week I saw Pentatonix, the season three winners of The Sing-Off, and they were AMAZING! I seriously can't believe all that music comes from their mouths! The show was like a rock concert. Everyone was on their feet, singing along and dancing the entire time. It was a blast.

Ok, back to the movie that started it all. I'm so excited for Pitch Perfect 2! Brittany Snow is the latest to sign on, joining Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson with Elizabeth Banks directing. The gang's coming together again! I'm just waiting to hear about Skylar Astin. I have such a toner for him. In the meantime I'll settle for his upcoming appearance on Glee.

I still need to see Pitch Perfect. Last time I checked, Netflix didn't have it. I guess I need to grab it at Target.

I've always loved acapella. Friends of mine in college were in the DelTones and I used to see them a lot.

I own the movie, and I'm embarrassed at how many times I've seen it. I just love it, and I made my husband watch the last season of The Sing Off with me.

Lol I didn't get the hype of Pitch Perfect. There were a few funny moments but I def thought it was just OK. And I tried with Glee but just couldn't do it either. Maybe because my music attention span is like 2 seconds. Only for a select few bands can I listen to an entire song. I'm weird. Haha

I've been to a few a cappella shows, and they are always awesome. It's been awhile though.
