Six of the year's hottest movie stars grace the cover of W Magazine's "The Movie Issue" and their choices couldn't have been more spot on, but the photographs are just meh. It looks like they were taken in and around a dingy LA hotel with bad lighting/filters and no direction whatsoever.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, American Hustle
I like her vintage swimsuit and her hair, but her expression is so deer in headlights or super pissed off.
Lee Daniels' The Butler
This looks like a candid iPhone photo, but she does look pretty good.
Dallas Buyer's Club, The Wolf of Wall Street
Ugly suit, but it kinda fits his personality, right?
12 Years a Slave
This is my favorite cover of the series. She's so gorgeous and happy and I love her dress.
Blue Jasmine, The Turning, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
Again, it looks like an iPhone pic taken while she was playing dress up. I don't get it. She's very pretty though.
Man of Steel, American Hustle, Her
This has to be the one of the worst covers I've ever seen. Poor Amy.
W has also given best performance of the year titles to the following actors featured inside the issue: Lea Seydoux, Will Ferrell, Casey Affleck, Idris Elba, Brie Larson, James Franco, Emma Thompson, Michael B Jordan, Olivia Wilde, Bradley Cooper, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Chris Hemsworth, Michael Shannon, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Julie Delpy, Mickey Sumner, Penelope Cruz, Bruce Dern, Jared Leto, Greta Gerwig, Jonah Hill, Dane Dehaan, Scarlett Johansson, Ben Foster, Shailene Woodley, Amanda Seyfried, Joaquin Phoenix, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
I think they could have had a lot more fun with this issue. Maybe it would have been too expensive to give all these A-list actors a proper photo shoot, but at least splurge on the covers! This was fun. I think it's time to bring back my Magazine Roundup!
