2013 Christmas Albums

I'm a Christmas music freak. I can't wait till October every year when the list of upcoming holiday albums comes out so I can see what I'm going to add to my collection. I bought seven albums this year and love them all! Check out what I've been listening to for the past few weeks:

Wrapped in Red by Kelly Clarkson I usually think new, original Christmas songs are cheesy, but Kelly has a few good ones, mixed in with some classics. Favorite songs: Underneath The Tree, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, 4 Carats, Silent Night (with Trisha Yearwood and Reba McEntyre)

The Classic Christmas Album by Martina McBride I love classics and though I'm not a huge country fan, Martina has always been one of my favorites. She's a class act, with a strong, pure voice. Favorite songs: Silver Bells, Blue Christmas (with Elvis Presley), Baby It's Cold Outside (with Dean Martin), I'll Be Home For Christmas

It Feels Like Christmas Time by Bod Bad Voodoo Daddy I didn't realize that this is their third holiday album, but after hearing it, I'm not surprised. The upbeat, jazzy, swing style works pretty well for fun Christmas tunes. It makes me want to get up and dance. Favorite songs: Jingle Bells, Run, Rudolph, Run, We Three Kings, Walking in a Winter Wonderland

The Classic Christmas Album by Andy Williams Andy Williams IS Christmas to me. I had about half of these songs already, but was happy to get this album for a few more classic carols.  Favorite songs: The Christmas Song, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Silver Bells, It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Under the Influence: Holiday Edition by Straight No Chaser I'm a huge, nerdy fan of a cappella and especially SNC! I saw them in concert last Christmas and will be seeing them again in a few weeks. I have all three of their Christmas albums now and they are all amazing. Favorite songs: Wonderful Christmastime (with Paul McCartney), Nutcracker, Amazing Grace

Let It Snow: A Holiday Collection by Jewel The '90s teen in me will always be a fan of Jewel. (Pieces of You got me through my high school breakup. What a loser!) Her voice is soft and soothing and she puts out a great holiday album. Favorite songs: Sleigh Ride, White Christmas, I'll Be Home For Christmas

The Time-Life Treasury of Christmas This one isn't new, but I had to have it. Hands down, it's the best Christmas album ever. It has all the classic songs that I grew up listening to with my mom and grandma. It features Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, Andy Williams, Julie Andrews, Gene Autry, Ella Fitzgerald, Brenda Lee, and a bunch of symphonies, choirs, and orchestras. I guarantee you'll recognize every song. Favorite songs: White Christmas, Jingle Bells, I'll Be Home For Christmas, Rocking Around The Christmas Tree, Sleigh Ride

What are you listening to this holiday season?

Dude, Pieces of Me got EVERYONE through their high school breakups, ha ha! I only discovered SNC last year when you posted about their concert, and you've turned me into an addict! Love their song "Indiana Christmas." I don't know if it's their original or a remake, but I freakin love it. It's one of my favorite Christmas songs ever.

My favorites include All I Want for Christmas is You (Mariah the Pariah), Christmas is Coming (Vince Guaraldi Trio), Last Christmas (Wham!), Purple Snowflakes (Marvin Gaye), What Christmas Means to Me (Stevie Wonder), Fairytale of New York (The Pogues).

I think the last one would be my TOP pick. I love CLASSIC Christmas music. And I have to say it always takes me back to hear the classics. Once in a blue moon I will like modern stuff. But it's hard to top old fashioned music.

PS I think I'd love the Martina album, I adore her.

OK let's establish that we are friends - deal? No take backs, you've agreed!

I hate Christmas music lol! I think it'd be OK if stations didn't play it so early and bombard us with so many songs. I'd be OK with a few mixed in, but I can't do Xmas music non-stop. I know, I'm crazy.

I love Christmas music too. Thanks for sharing! :)

I've got Christmas music playing every morning while the kids are having their breakfast, nothing like forcing your kids to like Christmas music.

That said, they have been listening to Oh Santa by Mariah Carey over and over since Sunday.

You know I'm obsessed with Christmas music, too and love your list! And I'm pretty sure I shed a few breakup tears along with Jewel so we'll be losers together ;)

I need to check out that Martina album! I love her so much. I like Kelly's but I can't listen it all in one sitting, you know? She's so cute though!

I also like Christmas music but you know I rarely listen to it, the last year or so I have just not been interested in listening to any music at all
