Busy, Busy, Busy

Things have been nuts lately! After recovering from surgery I got a cold, but we were off to Disneyland, so I wasn't able to really take care of myself. On vacation it turned into a respiratory infection, and on our first night back from California I slept for almost eleven hours! But that was all the rest I got because we were thrown into Halloween week. It was time to carve pumpkins, buy costumes, and make treats. After a sh*t ton of coughing I got laryngitis and didn't have a voice for a few days. I still had such a bad sore throat yesterday that I decided to go to the doctor. Turns out I have bronchitis too. Boo.

On a positive note, I got results back from the esophageal function and pH tests I took a few weeks ago. The good news is my esophagus works perfectly fine, so no surgery. The pH test showed that I had 51 episodes of acid backing up into my esophagus in a 24 hour period. The average is up to 48 times. Isn't that crazy?! Since I was barely over that number and because the acid wasn't hanging out for a while, I'm not considered abnormal. So I had these tests, an endoscopy, and ultrasounds the past few months and everything is working normally and looks healthy. I haven't been back to see my doctor to see what else he wants to do, but I don't think there are many options left. I'm going to have to take matters into my own hands. I gained a ton of weight since this summer. Like, a ton. I didn't even know you could put on that much in such a short amount of time! When my reflux was bad the only thing I could do to relieve the pain was eat. Now that it's under control with medicine, and I'm taking vitamins, drinking lemon water, and avoiding certain foods and drinks, the pain is gone. I wasn't working out at all because I couldn't breathe, but now that I've had surgery, that isn't an issue (for the time being). I need to get back to the gym and start a real diet ASAP!

I'm feeling positive and excited about November. October is usually my favorite month, but as you read above, it was a tough one for me. Jacob had been working six days a week for the past two months. I'm looking forward to having him home on the weekends again! And I've got some awesome stuff coming up. I have a  hair appointment tonight and I plan to go dark. Wish me luck! Leeann is coming to visit tomorrow and we have a big weekend ahead filled with touristy Seattle things. Also this month: Husky football and Silvertips hockey games, Selena Gomez and Mannheim Steamroller concerts, a musical, my nephew's first birthday, a Christmas card photo session for the kids, and of course Thanksgiving and Black Friday. I'm hoping to score a printer, food processor, and Beats Pill. I'm so lame. We also have dentist appointments (I know most don't look forward to that, but I love clean teeth), plans to deep clean and purge the house, and start Christmas shopping. Jacob put me on a budget this year because the kids have so much frickin' stuff. I'm totally ok with that. It just means I have to do some research before I buy.

As far as my blog goes, I've been in such a rut and I think it's finally coming to an end. I feel like all I do on here lately is complain and I'm over that. No one likes to read it. I've never had a focus or niche, but things will be a little different around here. I'm pretty much done talking about my kids. I've always tried to keep it short and sweet when it comes to them, but I am bored to death lately when I read about other people's kids, so you guys can't be thrilled to read about mine. Plus, I just don't want them to have so much of an internet presence. I've already deleted a bunch of posts that were about them. I have a private family blog, so if you really are curious about my rugrats, send me your email address and I'll invite you to read it. I will still be talking about all the really important stuff in the world (pop culture, duh) and I have a bunch of giveaways coming up, starting with Julep in a few weeks. Stick around!

You poor thing! Are you feeling ANY better? I feel so bad that I'll be dragging you around in the rain :( If you're not up for something let me know!

Probably a dumb question, but do you still have your gallbladder? Is that playing a part in your medical issues.

That sucks that you were sick on your vacation! Um, speaking of Black Friday, I love going with an adult beverage disguised as coffee and people watching... it's highly entertaining. Good thing I got all my big shopping done like two weeks ago. Yes, I am ahead of schedule, but it's so worth it.

Glad you are doing better after all that WHEW!!!!

I need to get back to the gym too.. . and by gym I mean, get back to my living room and DVD's.

That coughing EeCard cracked me up!

LOVE Mannheim Steamroller! LOVE!

And I also love going to the dentist - never bothered me and I love the side effect = clean teeth too! I hate cavities but I'm over being worried about that. Drill em and Fill em doc!

Kristine's comment above about drinking and Black Friday activities sounds awesome ... I think she is on to something! Ha ha!
Glad you are feeling better, chica!
I hear ya about this blog business ... my stats are low, too, and I don't hardly ever talk about my kids. I am beginning to think my blogging days are almost over. Too much time and pressure to not get anything back. Sigh.
Have a great weekend!!

Ugh, sick at Disneyland? I can think of few things worse. I love Disney World but have never done Disneyland. Hope November treats you much, much better!

I'm sorry you've been so sick! That's miserable!

And I'm glad you're feeling an end to the blogging rut. I would be sad if you stopped.

I've kind of lost my way with my blog too. I've rushed to put together something, anything and even I'm bored with myself.

I don't mind at all when you blog about the boys. You do it the right way, with pictures and fun details.

I'm in quite the funk, but feel myself coming out of it. Trying to stay positive over here when all I really want to do is drink and watch tv in bed. Ha!

Sounds like you have been through the wringer health wise, I hope you are starting to feel better. Being unwell doesn't put us in a rut and make blogging sometimes feel like to much work.
