Day Date

Last week SUCKED. Between the marathon bombings, the plant explosion, the gun control vote, and the manhunt, my heart just wasn't into anything. I ignored social media and blogging for the most part. I didn't do any chores or run any errands. I played with my kids all day long and escaped by going to the park, museum, library, etc. Then I watched the news all night long. (Like, all night. I didn't get much sleep last week). There is so much heartbreak still occurring, especially in Texas, but I think the country breathed a collective sigh of relief once suspect number two was captured in Watertown. And like the rest of the country, I cannot express how much gratitude and respect I have for all those involved in taking him down. On Saturday morning my Twitter feed was filled with regular tweets about nail polish, movies and baseball. My little family just kept spending time together this weekend. That really is the most important thing in the world.

On Friday night we had fondue. I bought some Velata from a friend of mine, and for dinner we cut up bread, carrots, and apples for the cheddar cheese dip. It was disgusting. It tasted like melted Velveeta. But dessert was good! We had bananas, strawberries, and marshmallows to dip in milk chocolate. The boys loved poking their food more than anything and it was a fun family meal that lasted an hour and made a huge mess.

I had grand plan to clean the house, catch up on blogs, go see a movie, and join the YMCA on Saturday. I don't know what happened, but I only cleaned ONE bathroom. That's it. I played a lot of Candy Crush, watched a terrible Lifetime Movie, caught up on a few episodes of SNL, and went to Target. Oh, I also donated blood, so I'm gonna call the a success.

Sunday was awesome and just what I needed.
Jacob and I had an entire day date. We started with lunch at our favorite burger place.

Then headed to Safeco Field for a tour. I've only done one other stadium tour, the old Yankee Stadium, which was awesome because there was so much history there. But this was equally as cool because I got to see where my team plays. We had access to the owner's suite, press box, media room, visitor's clubhouse, dugout, and field and learned a ton of history about the franchise. Well, as much history as a 14-year old stadium with a 36-year old team can have.

After the tour we did a little downtown shopping and grabbed a crepe.

Next we saw Flashdance the Musical. I have never seen the movie, so I didn't know what to expect. I hate to say it, but I didn't really like it. The dancing was awesome, and the songs from the movie soundtrack were great (What A Feeling, Maniac, Gloria) but the songs in between the dance numbers were so slow and boring and the cast just stood around while singing them. I wasn't impressed and might have nodded off a few times. Oops! I'm gonna have to check out the movie now.

Finally, because we didn't eat enough food, we stopped at The Melting Pot for a late night snack.

Good weekend! Today is business as usual. I better finally get around to cleaning the house.

I'm glad you had a great weekend! Sure sounds nice after that terrible week.

I think I spent most of the weekend doing as little as possible.

Y'all are fondue loving fools, I love it!! :)

That day date sounds amazing and so does spending all that time with your little family. It truly is what's most important, especially during times like this.

That stadium tour sounds awesome! I'd live to do that. I've been wondering about that fondue. Too bad the cheese was gross. So I had a chance to see Warhorse tomorrow and of course John is out of town :(
