Where I Spend My Days

I've seen a lot of bloggers share pictures of their work space and it makes me wish I had a really cool area where I got cozy and creative, but I don't. We have a loft in the middle of our second floor. It's the playroom and my office and it's where we spend the majority of our day, which means it's always a messy madhouse. And because Milo is a nosy brat toddler, we have beautiful partition to keep him out of my stuff. So fancy!

The playroom is crazy and the futon is the ugliest thing I've ever seen. I cannot wait to get a new couch when the kids are out of their messy phase. Maybe next year? Or in ten? There's really no decoration or theme going on at all. I will definitely remodel it when they're older, but right now this works. They just need a place to play and store toys and books. Jacob has his own office, with a door (!) because he stores his snowboarding, kickboxing, and hiking gear in there. Plus he has a much nicer computer than I do. The sad thing is, I'm not even on my side much during the day. I typically save all of my blogging and reading for nights and weekends because if I'm on my computer for more than fifteen minutes at a time, I get a whole lot of this:

Kids are so needy.

That last picture cracks me up.

We don't have a lot of nice furniture. Rory is FINALLY out of her destructive stage, so we're going to start adding new things one by one.

I love your playroom. We use our dining room as our playroom/office.

What a great space! And was that sunshine coming through the windows? Leave it to an Oregonian to notice that before anything else. Ha!

I love your big space! As much as I love lots of color and décor (which I don't even have in my own home right now. ha) I love the look and feel of a clean open area with no clutter! My parents actually have a room just like yours off of the stairs but it's full of furniture and crap. ha.

LOOOVE the last picture. Kids always gotta act like they can't do anything for themselves ;)

Great space!

The futon is totally fine for now! Replace it in 15 years. hahaha

I am jealous of all the space!! My whole apartment looks liek it fits in your "work area"!!! I would love something like that in a house!! And as for deco...myaprents barely started re-decorating our house when I was in college and my sisters graduating high school. I think there's no point becasue kids are gonna break things so just wait right?

Oh dear god that picture! Hahahah. Poor Milo, but really hilarious.

I like that you are waiting to get a nicer couch until they are older! My sister's furniture is so wrecked from the little ones. Great idea!

What an awesome space you've got. But if you wait for them to get out of their messy stage before replacing that futon, you're probably stuck with that futon until the end of time. Because, boys.

I am totally in awe of this. I cannot believe how incredibly neat everything is--so ordered, vacuumed, etc. My house is a freaking MESS and this makes me realize how embarrassed I'd be to show it. And you have little boys!!! Even more impressive. You're amazing!!

I have always wanted a loft like yours. We have o one story split floor plan. I hate it. Who needs two living rooms? Our front room is wasted space. Totally feel ya on the kids are needy thing. Don't they know we are too nusy to deal with their crap? Jk :)

I love this!! What a nice space for you and your family. I'm hoping when we finish our basement it can be bright and open light this space.
