Finally, A Fun Weekend

After dealing with sick kids for the past five weeks and having super boring weekends, I finally got out and about. We spent Saturday morning at a little St. Patrick's parade. It was windy, cold and a little drizzly, but it was great to get some fresh air. We saw some friends in the parade and they asked us to join them, so we walked about six blocks with the parade. As soon as we reached the end it started raining. Perfect timing.

On Saturday afternoon I treated my mom and sister to a Julep manicure. If you have a parlor membership, you can share your credits with friends and family in March and October. I chose Adrianna because it was the only green available and I needed something for St. Patrick's Day. Afterwards, we ate dinner at a favorite local pizza place and ice cream at Ben & Jerry's. My family spends a lot of time together, but this was totally different. It was so nice to sit and talk and relax without tending to the needs of one of our boys. My little brother is 7, my kids are 4 and 2, and my sister's baby is 4 months old. They are all awesome, but seriously demanding. People that say boys aren't social and don't talk much have never met any of ours!

Bright and early Sunday morning, we headed downtown for the 29th annual F5 St Patrick's Day Dash (6K). At 17,000 people, it's the biggest single-distance run in the Seattle, one of the biggest St Patrick runs in the country, and the most fun! Every person is happy, helpful and fun. There are costume contests, award ceremonies, a beer festival, a stroller parade, and tons of dogs. I wish I got more pictures of the costumes. One group pulled a pot of gold on a wagon that held green jello shots. We also saw a lady walking her goat. So funny!

It started out great. Nolan was pumped up and couldn't wait to "win". Jacob and I felt good. Milo was happy. Nolan walked/jogged about two of the four miles (off and on) and every time he got out of the stroller Milo wanted out too. He was having fun, but he was just so slow that we kept putting him back in. Then it just got too cold and Milo had a meltdown. He was completely bundled up, but there was a pretty strong wind and it was just too much for his little face. Jacob carried the poor, tired baby the last 1 1/2 miles. Nolan and I really wanted to check out the festivities after we finished, but Milo was exhausted and needed to defrost, so we decided it was best to just go home. I'm sure Jacob's arms are sore today! We still had a really good time.

My foot has been hurting (plantar fasciitis) since the Elvis 5K in January, but had been feeling pretty good the past two weeks. I wore a foot sleeve during the run and I didn't feel any heel pain until the last mile, but after getting home and elevating (napping), it was totally sore and now I'm limping. Hopefully it'll heal quickly because Nolan and I are registered for The Color Run in May.

I'm linking up with Leeann!

I'm glad you and the boys were able to get out and have some fun! The looked so adorable in the St. Patrick's Day gear :)

We don't have anything for St. Patrick's Day in LA. It really isn't fair since we celebrate other cultures :( It's fun to see how other areas celebrate the day!

And I love your manicure!

Thanks for linking up. I hope your foot feels better.

Yay for healthy kids!! Love your nail color. Ok seriously someone was walking their goat? I've always wanted a goat! Ha! That 5k looks like fun. I love festive events. It was SO cold in Boston too. I only lasted outside for about 30 minutes.

That race sounds awesome! We didn't do a St. Pattys race this year since we went to Kenny Chesney.
