Two Comedians, Two Concerts

I'm so excited about the new linkup at Join The Gossip! While Leeann's last linkup (Weekend Update) was really fun, I'm a mom of two little ones and most of my weekends are not worth writing about. Like this weekend? Nolan had a fever of 102 for three days (doc said it's just a virus) and Milo had a cough that kept us up all night. We hung out in pajamas and watched more TV than I care to admit. But her new linkup, Monday Morning Gossip, is a little more open. Of course we can post about our fun weekends (and I can live vicariously through you), but we can also post about life lately, what we're excited about, or any other water cooler chat we'd like to share. Ding ding ding! That's my specialty!

Although my weekend was totally lame, the past few weeks have been pretty fun. I haven't really had much time to blog about it though, so here we go!

Chris Hardwick I wasn't sure what to expect because I don't listen to his podcast (Nerdist) or watch his shows (Web Soup, Talking Dead), but I've always been a fan and have a little crush on him. Jacob and I saw him at a comedy club in Tacoma and we both thought it was very funny! A few remarks went over my head (something about Zelda and some zombie talk), but the rest was hilarious. He interacted with the crowd, which usually annoys me, but he was very friendly and quick and sweet. I loved him and would definitely see him again.

Seth Meyers I honestly had no idea he did stand-up, but my sister saw a commercial for his show at The Paramount Theater and we bought tickets immediately. He was hysterical! It started out very Weekend Update-y (which I love), and he touched on Washington state politics (like the legalization of pot). This led to personal stories about living in Amsterdam, and others about his family, his girlfriend, and his one and only bar fight. That story was so funny that I had tears streaming down my face and continued to laugh about it well into his next story. By the end of the night we had side aches and sore cheeks from smiling so much. I loved him and highly recommend it. Plus, he's just so cute!

ICCA West Region Quarterfinals While we were watching Pitch Perfect a few weeks ago, my friend and I wondered why our college (Western Washington University) didn't have any a cappella groups hanging out on the stairs, serenading or getting into riff-offs. It's a fairly small (15,000 students), very liberal college, but there were definitely some music majors and drama queens. After a quick Google search I learned that they have two a cappella groups (founded a few years ago) and that both of them were competing in regionals held at WWU the following weekend. Since I love any excuse to visit my college town, we got tickets. They competed against PLU, Gonzaga, CWU, and U of Utah. The WWU men's group took home third place while PLU's two groups (PLUtonic and HERmonic...gotta love the puns) won first and second and advanced to the semifinals in LA. The videos are really crappy, but they sounded great live and it was so much fun!

PLUtonic - Some Nights/What Makes You Beautiful/We Are Young Mashup

HERmonic - Love On Top

Air Supply My friend looooves Air Supply. The last two times she saw them she took other friends, but neither was willing to see them again with her. I'm always down for a concert so I agreed to go and they were surprisingly very good. You might not recognize the name of the band, but I guarantee you know a few of their songs. They are sappy, slow, early '80s love songs, but you can't help but get into it. The old dudes weren't super exciting to look at, but their guitarist was! And the crowd was very enthusiastic. That's always fun!

So, yeah, it's kind of a random mix, but I've been having a ton of fun.
Don't forget to link up with Leeann and share your Monday Morning Gossip!

The only stand up I've seen was about 3 years ago and it was Dane Cook at the height of his fame....not a fan of stand up comedy shows...but he was funny...when i paid attention. I kinda want to see Kathy Griffin, but I'm scared for the let down experience. You always have such exciting events/ concerts/ shows you go to!! I love that!! Hope your kiddo feels better today!!

I lovey love love LOVE Air Supply. I went to see them in concert with my BFF in NYC a few years back. It was fun as hell.

I'm sorry the kids were sick! That sucks.

My weekends aren't too exciting anymore, but I still love doing my weekend wrap up. Next weekend will be party times weekend, so expect a lot of weird/blurry/hungover photos. hahaha

I'd love to see Seth Myers. He's hilarious.

I saw Jimmy Fallon a couple of years ago. He was totally nervous, which I found adorable.
