And The Oscar Goes To...

This is the first year I've seen all of the Academy Awards Best Picture nominations! All nine. Kind of insane, right? It's just the first year that I've been so interested in the nominees.

2013 Oscar Nominations Lincoln Leads

Beasts of the Southern Wild was alright. I liked that the cast was unknown and Quvenzhane Wallis really was great, but it was so depressing. I also can't stand shaky camera work. I know it was trying to feel raw and didn't have a big budget, but it seriously gives me a headache. That takes away from my movie experience. Not fair, I know.

Silver Linings had the best cast, hands down. Every single character was  perfect and I love how real their relationships felt. It was funny and sad and I just loved everything about it. Of course Jennifer Lawrence was amazing, but it really made me think twice about the awesomeness that is Bradley Cooper. The guy can act! The movie definitely stuck with me for a few days. Those are the best kind.

The beginning of Zero Dark Thirty was hard for me to watch. I'm not a total baby when it comes to violence, but the torture was tough for me to sit through. I had a stomach ache for the first half hour. But I did love the movie. The information was so interesting and the pace was great. I didn't even notice how long the movie was. And I was definitely on edge during the raid.

At first I was pretty bored by Lincoln, but it picked up and really was a good movie. There is so much dialog but it kept me entertained (especially when they started name calling) for the most part. I did feel the length of this movie though. I probably shouldn't get my history lesson from a movie, but I have so much more appreciation for Lincoln and was pretty sad at the end, even though I knew what was going to happen. Daniel Day-Lewis absolutely WAS Lincoln. So amazing! I'm not a huge Sally Field fan, but she was pretty incredible too.

I reviewed Les Miserables here.

Life of Pi was so visually stunning! I was surprised that it kept my interest because it hardly had any dialog. I got sea sick though, and I didn't even see it in 3D. I'm a wuss! I hadn't read the book so I really didn't know what it was about or that it was a story within a story. The scenes with the animals were amazing (well, when they weren't scary) and I want a Bengal tiger now.

Amour was so sad. I have a really hard time with movies that go from sad to sadder to devastating. Why put myself through it? (That's why I haven't seen The Impossible yet). It really was a good movie, but a little slow for me, and just so sad. Have I mentioned that it was sad? Man, I don't want to get old. Maybe I missed the whole part about it being uplifting as well? Anyway, I thought Emmanuelle Riva was perfect and heartbreaking and I think she deserves the Oscar.

Django Unchained was pretty good. For some reason I wasn't really interested in seeing it, even though everyone said it was awesome. I didn't expect it to be so funny (especially the random KKK scene). The violence was plentiful and those scenes were way too long, but that's to be expected from Tarantino. I could have done without 90 of the 110 uses of the n-word too. I can't get over how great Christoph Waltz was...once again. He's perfect in everything! Or is that because he kind of always plays the same character? Regardless, I loved him.

My absolute favorite movie of 2012 is Argo. I don't know that I've ever seen a movie that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I was so anxious and nervous and freaking out! In a good way. Horror movies don't even do that to me. The cast was flawless and the direction was incredible. Some people say it dragged, but I didn't notice one bit. I wanted to keep watching it when it was over. I really hope this movie wins Best Picture! I'm rooting for you, Ben!

I feel dirty thinking Zac E is hot. I'm almost 36 years old. hahaha

My friend told me Argo was just released on demand this week. I feel like I might be doing that on Sunday!

I have only seen Django. I typically enjoy Tarantino movies because I'm secretly a boy. Ha! The KKK scene killed me. I could always do without some of the blood spurting violence, but it wouldn't be a QT film without it.

I'm determined to watch a few before Sunday though. I need to get on that as soon as I get off work.

Thanks for linking up. I love that dress. It's simple, but gorgeous. I'm surprised you went with Zac and not Jake.

This is the one and only time in history that I would be okay with someone else winning besides DDL. Like Bradley Cooper, for instance, because he stole my soul in the role.

Christoph Waltz is perfection, I swear. I just adore him!

I only saw Django, Beasts, Silver Linings, & Lincoln. Which I guess is better than previous years!

Love that dress :-)

Yea, My date would be Nicholas Holt after seeing a shirtless picture of him the other day... I can't believe he's the kid from About a Boy, I watched it about 50 times because I have an unnatural obsession with Hugh Grant.

You know what? I've only seen "Les Mis" out of all the movies that are in the running. I feel way out of the loop and would just give it all to "Warm Bodies". No I wouldn't, but I did love that movie!

Love the dress you would wear as well!

I didn't read your entire post yet because I still have a couple of the movies to see, which I'm doing tomorrow, but I totally agree with you about Argo. I loved this movie. I was so on edge toward the end that I kept thinking "they really do get out, right?" I thought it was brilliant.

Yeah I've only seen Argo and Lincoln :( And I'm going to an Oscar party. I'm going to be clueless lol. I didn't like Lincoln. Maybe because I was sick when I saw it and it was long? I have a degree in American Studies too so you'd think I should have appreciated it more.

I love yur look, and date ;) That hairdo would look awesome on you!

I agree that Emanuelle Riva deserves the Oscar, even though it's going to go to Jennifer Lawrence, who was also great. And seriously, who knew Bradley Cooper was so much more than just a pretty face!

I agree that Argo is going to win and totally deserves it.

I also totally love your dress. It's perfect!
