My 34th Birthday

We hardly got settled after vacation before I went straight into surgery and recovery, so I haven't had a chance to recap my birthday yet. Can I talk about myself just one more time this week? Four out of five days is kinda terrible, but here goes.

It was actually a very low key birthday. I slept in until Jacob brought me breakfast in bed at 9:30. He made chocolate ebelskivers, some filled with chocolate and some with white chocolate and they were goooood. We are still getting used to making them on our gas stove and they hadn't previously turned out right, but they were perfect this time!

Jacob made soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch and then revealed his masterpiece:

So sweet! Nolan chose The Little Mermaid disgustingly delicious candy and helped Jacob decorate the cake. For Jacob's first cake ever, it wasn't too bad. The boys sang "Happy Birthday" to me about 14 times that day too. We lounged around the house for a while, and then got ready to see The Book of Mormon at the Paramount Theater.

We also grabbed some crepes before the show. They don't really look good (I can't take food photos), but they tasted amazing!

The musical was awesome. It's definitely in my top five. We are huge Matt Stone and Trey Parker fans. I mentioned before how much I love BASEketball and we still watch South Park every week. Add Robert Lopez (a creator of Avenue Q, another one of our favorite musicals) and you have a winner! I bought the soundtrack two years ago and we knew every song before seeing the play, but it was still very surprising and so frickin' funny. We laughed out loud more times than I can count. It was totally offensive, and not just to Mormons (I don't offend easily and was shocked by a few things), but it was absolutely hilarious, with great lyrics, cool sets, fun costumes, and amazing choreography. It took a lot of liberty while making fun of the Mormon religion (some of it was just not true at all), but it didn't attack it as much as I was expecting. The story line was a little weak, but sweet, and the whole production was flat out entertaining. I recommend it!

After the show we stopped at Dick's Drive In, to get some of Seattle's best fast food. And when we got home, my mom had an ice cream cake waiting for me. So much good/bad food!

It was a pretty great day. I spent it with my family and didn't get a single present, just what I wanted!
So far 34 isn't that bad.

I'm dying to see Book of Mormon. I've never seen a play on Broadway and I wanted that to be it, but it is still super effing expensive. Maybe for my birthday? We'll see.

I love the pic of you and your boys blowing out the candles!

As far as writing about yourself...it IS your blog after all, lady!

YAY BIRTHDAY GIRL! I love how much your kids and hubs adore you. You deserve it all, lady.

Glad you had a wonderful birthday, and I'm also glad you like Book of Mormon. I was shocked by a few things (like the big...black...you know whats). That being said, I'm glad I knew the music beforehand. I had a hard time understanding the african-accented songs. Oh, and even though I've listened to the soundtrack a jillion times, I just realized (when she sang it in the show) that the African girl is saying Salt Lake City in her song. #FacePalm #Duh

Let's grab a drink, or do a movie to celebrate your [belated] birthday soon!

Happy Birthday, all the pictures look so fun. My favorite is the cheeseburger at the end because I am hungry and now I have to have one!

Happy Belated Birthday! Looks like it was a great one!

Don't worry too much about the Seahawks losing. They wouldn't have made it another week anyway. ;-)
