Winter Weekend

What a tough weekend. Friday's tragedy is weighing so heavy on my heart. I cried all weekend. If my kids gave me a hug, I cried. If my kids made me laugh, I cried. If my kids made me mad, I cried. President Obama, SNL, Facebook, and Twitter all made me cry. I stopped watching the news and tried my hardest to avoid social media. I have so much to say, but just can't do it right now. So let's talk about what brought me some smiles this weekend.

Wilson Phillips My friend and I saw the lovely '90s trio on Friday night. My sister was going to come too but was afraid that it would be too embarrassing. I admit, I was worried about the same thing, but watching the women sing Hold On in the flesh was worth it to me. I'm so glad I went. It was a blast! They sang their hits, a ton of Christmas tunes, and covers of The Beach Boys and The Mamas & The Papas (their parents). I would have been happier with less Christmas songs. But they had great energy and harmonies and they engaged a lot with the audience. Carnie was a bit crass, Chynna totally over performed, and Wendy seemed just a tad uncomfortable, but it was still a great time. And the people watching was amazing. We weren't allowed to take photos, but I snuck a few before an usher reminded me to put my camera away.

Kid's Museum On Saturday morning I swapped Milo for my little brother and took him and Nolan to the kids museum in Tacoma.

Snow It only snowed for an hour and only 1/4 inch, but we'll take it! We were watching The Polar Express and eating popcorn, but we had to pause the movie to go out and play. It came down in huge, wet flakes, so we didn't play for very long, but we had fun.

Nephew That evening I visited my littlest nephew. I haven't seen him in two weeks because I was so sick. He's so big and so cute!

Mani/Pedi I got my monthly mani/pedi at Julep on Sunday. I love the December colors and it took a lot of willpower not to buy myself a ton of stuff so close to Christmas. I went with Scarlett on my fingers and toes. I never match them and it's making me feel like such a grown up. I loved the color so much that I bought it. Just one bottle isn't too bad, right?

Hockey Sunday evening we took the boys to a Silvertips game. Nolan went to his first game earlier this year, so he was an old pro with his flag waving and Zamboni watching. Milo is still pretty young for sporting events and spazzed out towards the end, so I had to bust out the iPod games. Otherwise he had a great first game. Jacob and I can't get enough of it. Seriously. We LOVE hockey and would go every week (without the kids) if we could.

I'm linking up with Leeann and Sami!

You had a very busy weekend! So glad you did such fun things w/ your family. I think many people looked at their families different this weekend. I'm w/ you about crying w/ everything. Ugh! So so sad. I hope it will lead to changes in our mental health system.

I just repainted my toes with red!! I'm gonna go back and paint one on each foot green so it's all Christmas-y. :)

That looks like so much fun! Especially the hockey game! I don't think I know any other song by Wilson Phillips other than Hold On, which makes me laugh out loud because of the end scene in Bridesmaids- classic!

I love that you say you "swapped" Milo...lol.

Are you wearing flip flops in the snow?!? The things we do for pedicures...

I cried a few times over the weekend and today too. I did not want to leave D at school today. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be.

I went out with some high school girlfriends on Saturday night and forgot about SNL. Was it any good?

It sounds like you had a pretty good weekend.

I would totally love to go see Wilson Philips, just for nostalgia's sake. And snow? I always miss it just a little bit around this time of year.
