San Diego

My brother is working in San Diego until February so I took advantage of his two bedroom hotel room and went to visit him over the weekend. This was my fifth trip in the past eight years, but my friend had never been, so we packed as much as we could in three days. We drank a lot, we ate a lot, and we had fun. We flew in late Friday night, grabbed some In-N-Out, and stayed up way too late chatting and eating double doubles. On Saturday, the hottest day ever (102 degrees!), we had breakfast and drinks at Wave House and explored Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Mount Soledad, and La Jolla Cove. The Pacific Ocean finally wasn’t too cold to get into!

Then we wandered around Balboa Park and got some great Mexican food and margaritas at Miguel's Cocina in Old Town. We spent the evening in Hillcrest and saw the movie Sleepwalk with Me. Sooo good! I loved it!

On Sunday, I got to meet Leeann (Join the Gossip) and Tiffany (Polka Dotted Cats)! We met up for brunch (with generous bottomless mimosas and a huge buffet) at Baja Betty’s. We talked and drank and talked and drank and drank. Seriously. Our glasses never even reached half full and most of the time the waiter just came by with champagne to top us off. The food was good, the music was good (Britney every other song, mixed in with some Gaga, Ke$ha, and other pop artists. My brother even asked me if they took my iPod at the door.), and the company was even better. I had so much fun with these girls and I wish I could have spent all day with them! Unfortunately a 2 1/2 hour brunch was all I could squeeze in.

After brunch my brother dropped our drunk asses off at SeaWorld while he went to watch the Seahawks game. We saw the animals, rode the rides, and watched the shows. After that long day, we hit the hotel hot tub and called it an early night.

My brother had to work Monday, so my friend and I took Old Town Trolley’s tour through the city. We got off and shopped at Seaport Village and Horton Plaza then continued on to Coronado to have lunch with my brother at Tavern and checked out Hotel Del Coronado. The drivers kept telling us that Coronado beach is the best beach in America. I’ve been to some pretty great beaches in Hawaii and Florida, and while it was really pretty and relaxing, I just don’t believe that it is THE BEST.

We finished the tour, driving through Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy and Old Town, then it was time to pack for our evening flight.

I love San Diego. The time I was there I didn't get to tour much. I would love to go back and visit again.

Your trip sounds so awesome! And even more awesome that you got in brother time and blog friend time! :) You deserved a fun vacation too! oh and if you thought San Diego's 102 was hot, you should probably avoid visiting SA any time during the summer. haha

Yay! I promise next time we hang out I won't get shithammered off mimosas! I'm glad you got to explore our beautiful city so much. Don't forget to send me your address :-)

So many pretty pictures! You guys really made the most of your time! How did you like the trolly tour? Was it worth it for you guys?

I'm thrilled we finally got to meet! I wish I wasn't so hung over and out of it though. The night before I actually got so drunk I had to call my parents to pick me up from the bar lol!

We're going to have to plan a Seattle trip to come up and visit you next!

I adore San Diego. If my job would let me work from home, I'd move in a second.
