Thoughts On The Olympics

I'm obsessed and so tired from staying up till 1:00am every single night. Here's what I've been thinking about.

Nathan Adrian You remember when I raved about my hometown hero here, right? And now he’s America’s darling. I just love him! His race was definitely the most exciting. If you are totally out of the loop check this out. And then watch this clip from the Mythbusters episode he appeared in. He's even got some "Hey Girl" memes! His sister is sending me email updates every day and they are having a blast over there. I’m so happy for him and his family. It couldn’t have happened to a better bunch. They work hard and appreciate everything. Our hometown is going crazy for him right now!

Michael Phelps He’s a machine! 22 medals, including 18 gold, which is 11 more than any other Olympian. I’ve had so much fun cheering him on this year and cried a few tears too. He seemed a little grumpy the first few days, hardly smiling at all, but towards the end I saw that he was enjoying it. He said in an interview that he was trying to be intense and once he let it go and started having fun he started swimming better and winning. It’s the end of an era and I’m so glad to have watched every second of it.

Ryan Lochte Yes, he’s a tool and even though I already knew most of this douchey stuff, I still love him, grill and all. Hey, at least it’s patriotic! Sometimes you just gotta crush on a dumb jock. (Channing Tatum, anyone?)

Team Phelps vs. Team Lochte Why was everyone choosing sides? Why weren’t we supporting our whole team? Lochte calls Phelps the greatest Olympian of all time. Phelps said, "Ryan is one of the toughest competitors I've ever swam against." They root for each other, why can't America? While Phelps came out of London the most decorated Olympian of all time, Lochte took home five medals, which is nothing to complain about. I love them both and wanted them to win everything! USA!!

Missy Franklin and Katie Ledecky Beasts. 15 and 17 year old beasts! And I mean that in the best way possible. They are inspiring and adorable and I love them both! I totally cried right along Ledecky when she sang and cried during the national anthem at her medal ceremony. That’s how you do it, Katie!

Women’s Gymnastics Does anyone else have a hard time calling them “women”? Regardless, I love them! Gabby is amazing.

Men’s Gymnastics I love the men’s team even more than the women’s and was so sad that they couldn’t bring it. These guys are awesome and their stories are amazing. I cried right along with them. As much as I love Jake Dalton, John Orozco (the silent ninja) stole my heart. What a sweet, sweet guy.

The Royals How cute are they at all the events?

The Olympics are more than halfway over now. Swimming is done. Gymnastics and diving only have a few events left. Those are my favorite events. But track has started and I’m into it! And yeah, I’ll probably even watch rhythmic gymnastics this weekend. I tweeted the other day that I haven't cried this much since I was hormonal and pregnant. I'm sure I'll be shedding more tears this week! I love the Olympics!

Oh, gosh, I am a big old bawl bag during these Olympics! That Oscar Pistorius story had me sobbing. Silly hormones! And yes, I am loving all the Wills and Kate showings! My biggest disappointment - I can't find synchronized swimming anywhere in the tv listings! The only time I could watch it is live online at 10am - right in the middle of the most important part of my day at work! Boooo...

I saw your title and couldn't wait to read!! Nathan Adrian is too cute!! I was so happy he won!! Phelps and Lotche....i love them both and i agree why can't you root for both. They do. I teared up when Michael got his last individual gold, so awesome. OMG I was crying when Missy Franklin got her gold and during her interview last night!! She's so down to earth, love her. I love both women and men's gymnastics simply because they are soo talented and freakin amazing!! I'm not too into track, but Bolt is a wonder!! How do you feel about beach volleyball? I am dying on every serve, spike, and set. I wish I could actually watch the basketball but i never seem to be around a TV during the times they play :( oh well

I am also completely exhausted from staying up late and watching the Olympics. I thin Lochte is going to party it up waaaay more than Phelps after the Olympics. I've also been loving watching the royals. Kate was adorable when she was talking with the US Gymnastics Team the other night!

I'm so glad Phelps snapped out of his funk. It was really annoying me at first. Once he started really being himself, I really enjoyed watching him. THANK YOU for the clip of Lochte pulling down his swim suit. He is so freaking hot!

I freaking love the Olympics and I've been even more into it this year than ever before.

I don't get the Team Phelps vs. Team Lochte thing either. They're both amazing. Even if Ryan IS hotter.

I rooted for Lochte even though I think he's a tool. I definitely like Phelps more though. Jake Dalton is SO HOT. He's also a really great gymnast. I don't know that I've ever seen a man that graceful. Ha!

Loved every minute of Track & Field too. Usain is da man!
