I’m Grumpy and Magic Mike Review

I can usually let things roll of my back and I’m not a negative person, but I had a rough week and couldn't get out of a funk. My mom scared us all with a hospital stay, I've been arguing a lot with my (pregnant/hormonal) sister, and my kids were demanding and challenging! I also came down with a respiratory infection. I know that made me challenging as well. Any time I get sick, it instantly hits my lungs. Phlegm in my lungs means phlegm caught in my trachea, which means I can’t breathe. I’m on a stupid steroid which makes me totally irritable (and sweaty…eww), but I've got to be able to breathe! I also had to make an appointment to discuss my next surgery. I’ll probably have it scheduled for the end of the month.

My weekend was a little sad. I went back to my college town on Friday night where my friend still lives to help her prepare for her father’s memorial service the following day. She help up pretty well, the service was filled with friends, family, tears and laughter. Afterwards, we had to go have fun! We got some burgers, drinks and Magic Mike! Unfortunately the movie wasn’t that great. I mean, the guys were gorgeous, the routines were pretty awesome, the gyrating was hilarious/hot and Channing can d-a-n-c-e. But I was not expecting it to be sort of serious, depressing, and seedy. Matthew McConaughey was creepy and OLD. Cody Horn was sooo annoying with her pissy face and obnoxious laugh. And Joe and Matt only had a few lines and hardly any screen time! Also, it could have used more stripping. There wasn’t as much as I thought there’d be. I didn’t totally hate it; it just wasn’t at all what I was expecting. The overall tone of the theater was so different before and after the movie so I know I wasn’t the only one disappointed. Did you see it? It made $39.2 million, so of course you did! What did you think?

Those quotes at the bottom are hilarious! Sorry you've been in a funk. I have been too. And I've got to snap out of it bc I'm turning into mean mommy. Let me know if you need to vent. Hope you get feeling better mentally and physically soon!

I'm sorry you've been having a tough time!! Things always get better though and I'm here too if you wanna chat! :) And seriously, why is it that people stop commenting on your blog when you haven't had the time to read theirs? I've been doing quick posts but haven't had time to read much and I noticed my comments were way down. Oh well! lol.. And I'm dying to see Magic Mike but only for obvious reasons. I'm going in not expecting much...but hotness. ha!

I'm seeing it tomorrow night! Also, did you really just call Matthew McConaughey creepy and old? I'm a little sad. I don't care how old he's gotten. He still makes my loins burn. HAHAHA! Terri saw it already and her review is a lot like yours. It's not enough to deter me though, obviously. I have to see for myself. :)

I had to come back to this post to comment after I read your comment on Leeann's post. Totally agree with your review. When the girl was laughing on the sand bar I was cringing. Was that her attempt at trying to do a real laugh? Or is that her real laugh? Awful casting! I loved the stripping/dancing but the second half was way too much plot!
