Nails

I got my first Shellac manicure last week. I wasn't impressed with the salon I went to. I felt like their nail polish was old and thick. I also don't like how she shaped my nails or how sloppily she painted them. I seriously could have done better with my left hand. The colors to choose from were limited, mostly pinks which I don't wear often, so I went with Black Pool. So dark and Seattle-like.

Day 1

I'm on day ten and it looks pretty good.
There is some obvious grow out, but my tips still look perfect!

Day 9

See how well it stays? Look at the spots where she painted my cuticles (grrr). It's still there!
I can't wait to try it again, but not at that place.

Here are some of the other shades I've been doing myself over the past month.

Yeah, I know the gray nail trend is going out, but I still really love it.

It didn't turn out quite the way I imagined, but it looked snowy enough.

I love the color, just a hint of shimmer without being too thick.
I really hate OPI's brushes though. My nails are too small.

I absolutely love the gray Essie polish and the OPI color - I don't pay much attention to the nail polish trends, I just wear whatever looks cute! :) Love your blog, I'm a new follower!

Ooh, I'd be mad about the cuticles too! Where did you go? I go to Patsy James in Bellevue and LOVE her. My fav Shellac color is Rockstar Royalty. It looks like a really bright purple in the bottle is more of a deep purple on; it's fab! Shellac really needs to broaden their polish colors.

I want a Shellac mani so bad!! They don't do them here though :(

But I love all the colors you used!! SO pretty. I'm a bit of a polish hoarder... :) hehe May be adding your colors soon... LOL!

I've done Shellac one time and I too had a not so great experience with the salon. The polish was really thick, she redid my nails 3 times and ended up going with a different color all together for the 3rd attempt. My nails were a mess as well. I didn't wear that great either. I didn't have to pay for the mani but still I was there forever and bottom line not pleased with the whole Shellac experience.
Love all those other colors!
Happy Friday!

I loved my Shellac but, yeah, whoever did yours could have done a better job. Love The Herring polish!

Wow you have lots of manis to show off! I don't think I'll ever try a shellac manicure because I personally like to do my nails myself and can't commit to a color that long hehe

Cool colors! I hear that the long stay manis are great, but my nails grow so fast, so it might look funny after a few days?

i just love the dark color and how well it stayed put (minus the salon doing a messy job- although I really can't tell)- they look great to me!
I also STILL loove grey! I dont think it can ever really go "out" :)

holy moly! maybe that's what i need to do - my nail polish lasts AT MOST 2 days. i'm always doing dishes and such at work, so i guess it's to be expected.

ho hum. so much to do, so little money.

also - i'm still in love with the grey nail polish look.

Your nails look great. I think OPI actually changed the brush a few years back. I agree I am not a fan of the brush.
